Booked this on the day for 6 people at 8pm. Place packed when got there. Sat in waiting area for 15 mins before being shown to table. Further 15 mins got menus and round of drinks. Popadoms arrived about 1/2 later and duly finished waited for signs of a waiter. At 9.40pm when no one had showed went to bar to enquire where food was. Told it was imminent but after further wait ,nothing appeared. Decided to cut our losses , pay for drinks and go. Messed up Saturday night. Not enough staff to cope with volume of customers. Food may be good when you get it but no consolation. If they couldnt cope with the numbers they had booked maybe they should have declined our booking. Will not try again.

I have driven passed the green Bangla for years. But made up for the miss yesterday. We had been out to see the new Sweeney film and wanted a meal when we came out.
The friendly welcome was great sat next to the fire. The meal was top end food nicely served, and all four dishes were superb. Will go again and again.

I might be slightly biased, because this is a local restaraunt, but what a fantastic place to eat, The weekday 3 course menu is about £10, but you can choose anything off the menu, and then the have as much as you can eat Sunday buffet, and what a treat!! The service is second to none, and the food is always really good . I recently went to the Bukhari in Salmsbury with work which has supposed to have a good reputation, but the service and food was far better at the Green Bangla! If you have never been here, what a shame, your missing out on a great experience!

Visited this place for the first time. The restaurant is located in an old inn and is not particularly imposing from the outside. There is no car park but nearby street seemed OK.
A friendly welcome when we went inside, we were taken straight to our table without being asked. There is a bar area with some seating but it was not that cosy so the table was better.
The rooms were still 'English pub' in atmosphere but that seemed to suit the restaurant. Music was just tolerable at first but once more diners were present became unobtrusive.
The waiter was attentive and helpful with the menu which had some unique dishes as well as all the well known favourites.
Our starters, chana and prawn puris, came promptly and were accompanied by three delicious dips.
The main courses were well presented and well cooked. My Sea Bass was tastefully marinated and cooked and excellent. However I didn't feel the accompanying sauce was a success, white wine and cream are not the usual Bangladeshi ingredients.
The other mains were of good portions but again the flavours were were maybe a little heavy handed.
The Tarka Dhall and Brinjal Bharji side dishes were top quality and enjoyed by all.
Would need to try other dishes off the menu to comment more on the flavours.
Throughout the evening the staff were very friendly and and we followed the meal with a drink seated at the bar.
So a very enjoyable evening with the restaurant just falling short of 4 stars. Was more homely than some 'upmarket' Indians. Would certainly visit again if in the area.
