“Tired hotel with sleepy staff.”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

We attended a friend's wedding at this hotel. Luckily, her personality and creativity outshone anything the venue itself could come up with, as this isn't a place I would recommend to stay. It seems like a nice place that's run by amateurs, or staff too young to care.

The local Tea Shop serves the worst coffee I've ever tasted, prepared and served by possibly the most unfriendly and insouciant 'barista' I've ever come across. We paid for it, but wish we hadn't (expensive too).

Oh, we could on and on, but we had a great time at the wedding thanks to an amazing host, great speeches, a terrific photographer and nice touches such as a mini sweet shop (for free) and an ice cream van outside the church. But these came from the invention of the bride and groom, and had little to do with the hotel's lack of care and imagination.

The shining stars: the 'infinite pool' is rather nice, despite overlooking the car park, and the views from behind the hotel overlooking the hills are beautiful, especially at sunset.

I agree with some of the neg comments but feel the + outweigh them.stayed for the 3rd time for a girly nite with mum. The food is lovely and as the break was a half price deal for 1 nite , made it value tho wouldnt have liked to pay full whack. yes the key cards played up on day of check out, but this was resolved at reception. rooms in outbuildings arent our 1st choice so we asked for an inner room and was allocated one near the spa area, we arrived early and as the room was ready were able to have it earlier than 2pm. We like the jacuzzi and pool but dont really bother much with the sauna etc, the pool adjoined to the jacuzzi overlooks the grounds with a shutter door that slides up which is quite novel.would recommed a stay if you can get a deal ( 2for 1 etc)

Room Tip: avoid the outbuildings in winter!!

Me and a friend have 2 young children so booked a nights break to be able to use the spa facilities and enjoy a good nights sleep.
When we arrived at 2pm we were told our room was not ready, we waited a further hour to be taken to our room!
We went down to the spa and although the hydrotherapy pool and sauna were nice the other rooms had a funny smell to them. We booked spa treatments for the following day. We then went for tea and was told it was a set 3 course menu which we didn't really want but tried anyway. Had to ask for part of my meal which they had forgotten! Once we had eaten we noticed burger and chips going through to another couple, when we asked what menu they were from the waiter said there are other menus he was just too busy to tell us about them when we arrived!!!
We went to bed hoping for a nice sleep but something was buzzing and vibrating the floor all night (it was like a spin dryer under the floor!!) We complained to reception who said it was the extractor fan in the kitchen and it would go off at 11pm so we decided to stay put, at midnight it was still happening so we called again and were made out to be liars!
After no sleep whatsoever we got ready for our spa treatments. A lady then phone 30 mins before treatment should have started and said they were running behind and would have to move our treatments back 1.5 hours!!! We had to be home for the children so could not make this new time so had our treatments cancelled!!!
We complained at reception (receptionist laughed at us!!) and were offered the same rate for next time we stayed. We said we would never come again but they refused to offer us any money back!!!
Awful service, staff very rude. Only saving grace was the hydrotherapy pool!!!!!

We arrived late sunday afternoon put our bags in the room which looked dated and in need of modernisation and went for a swim. The pool and spa were fairly clean but need a little maintenance as tiles had started to come off in the spa pool and a few surround tiles were broken in the pool hall. We got back to our room and my wife sat on the end of the bed to find out it was broken and when we reported it to reception we were upgraded to a bridal suite, which was also dated and needed modernisation, the worst part the bathroom not having opaque glass. Breakfast was busy and we were asked to wait for a table in the "cocktail bar" which still had used glasses on from the night before all the tables were tacky to touch which suggests lack of cleaning in the bar, we had a couple of minutes to wait for breakfast which was mainly good apart from running out of milk for the cereal and fried eggs from the breakfast buffet much to my wifes annoyance as i got the last one.

Spent 2 nights at Last drop. Its around 5 miles from Bolton Centre. The reception area is OK and rooms need a refurb. The room was bit dark and stains were on the bathroom floor and room atmosphere can be improved while maintaining the 17 th century character of the Hotel intact.Tried the restaurant and the food was good.Dinner menu is good and morning breakfast was good with load of choices.

Leisure facilities are top notch.Pool,Suana & Spa were really good.Overall the stay was good except for lapses on upkeep of rooms.
