“Amazing food in a home style dining room!”
Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

We were recommended wheelers by a local friend and weren't disappointed. We would have walked past without looking twice and just a few stools and serving shop style front but behind this is a dining room big enough to seat around 16 people. We had oysters, crab cake, lobster lasagne, steak and oyster pudding, pear tarte tartin and lemon sherbet souffle. Every item was delicious, beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented. A definite must if you visit whitstable but make
Sure you book as it is only small inside. Well done to the owners and chefs!

“Nice expericence, always”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

There's only 2 restaurants worth going in central Whitstable, Wheelers is one of them for me (the other slighly a walk away, "jojos).
You can spend as litle (from the selection of cold seafood) or as much (from the main manue) money, but the fact that you can bring your own wine / champagne balance out the bills nicely.
Last 2 visit I had to have "small" Lobstar lasagna (it wasn't too expensive) - it wasn't small! It was enough after sharing 1/2 of the Scallop starter and the dessert.
The flavour is much much more complex and challenging than other "seafood" menu offered in Whitstable. Beside of that, the restaurant itself is unique and cosy..just filled with happy eaters.
I sometimes buy crab sandwich to take away and eat on the beach - only like £3.50!
They close eaarly January (and I think Wednesday afternoon) for but go and get yourself a booking.
The reason for not giving 5 for the rating is becasue service is good but quite basic (which is absolutely fine, but I am saving 5 star for absolute top top restaurant) but I like it that way for the Wheelers. - not over the top customer service, so you can carry on chatting to your riends and partners rather than being asked every 5 minutes how fine the meal is.

“What a find”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We read about this fantastic little restaurant just before heading off to Whitstable. We were lucky enough to secure the last table for the lunchtime sitting at 1pm. It's like no other restaurant I have been to...like sitting in someone's front room but the food...the best crab cakes I have ever eaten. Take your own wine as it is not licensed and expect an experience like no other. Bon appetit.
