“A short sneaky break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

Arrived Tuesday afternoon already for our break!!! whoops a day early "stress the reason we came away" with in 15mins problem solved and the receptionist all smiles gave us a room on the front overlooking the sea, be it on the 3rd floor, the room was well decorated and the furnishings modern and every thing worked. That evening we had a bar meal I had sole and the wife had whitebait with smoked mushrooms and salad. an interesting combination but that's my wife, turned in early. Breakfast in the morning was inclusive and a good selection and not mean with it.
We stayed another two nights having the odd tea/coffee and snacks, every body was helpful could not find any problems with the staff or hotel, there is lots of parking at the hotel or close it is in a nice area with good sea views and reasonable priced for the Uk. Would come again thanks a great team effort.

Room Tip: Rooms at front the higher rooms are good but no lift

We were very impressed with this recently refurbished hotel overlooking the sea. However, the room was advertised as sea view but didn't specify that we would be designated to a room at the top of the building with tiny windows at chest height that didn't open properly. This meant that the room became hot quickly and although had very efficient air conditioning the unit was too noisy to make sleeping with it on difficult. Luckily the weather was on our side so we didn't have to spend much time inside. The breakfast was fine but the evening bar meals were very average and considering we were next to the sea the traditional fish and chip meal was awful - soggy tasteless batter with poor quality cod. The whitebait dusted with paprika seemed to have missed the paprika somehow. To add to the disappointment the vinegar seemed to have been watered down!! No excuse for this in a sea front pub/bistro environment!!! Perhaps the chef is relying on non British visitors not knowing what good fish and chips should taste like.

Room Tip: The 1st floor rooms are more spacious with better ventilation but the sea view rooms have high rates...

We LOVE whitstable. However, there are not many places to stay apart from B&b's and guest houses. We stayed at The Marine Hotel 5 years ago and it was quite drab in need of a re-vamp,and boy has it had one! It is just lush. We stayed there with two young children and made very very welcome. There was a mix u with our booking but Vicky on reception managed to get together a room with two zed-beds and it was perfect. The hotel is done up to a fantastic standard. All very chic and well though through. It is truly lovely. Staff were great and the food fab. Going again in August for a two night stay as a treat.

Stayed for two nights in superior double with hubby and dog arranged to have late check in staff very helpful and welcoming to our little dog. Room had great view nicely refurbished but a little noisy at times from bar. Very good breakfast with great staff, dinner although very reasonably priced was a little disappointing, it did not really match the quality of the view and the staff. This would not put me off staying here again this is a great hotel

We have just returned from a two day stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it .
The staff were all very polite and helpful, the rooms very well presented and clean it has undergone a major refurb and is very tastefully decorated.

Room Tip: I would advise room at front for the sea view which is amazing

The hotel has been recently refurbished and I must say in looks very nice. The last time we stayed, some of the rooms were up graded and now the rest of the hotel and been completely done. We booked late, so the rate was higher than I wanted to pay, but still the room was very nice and the whole place has a good feel about.
