The Tankerton Arms micro pub is a converted shop. Wetherspoons do it too, but not as successfully as the Tankerton Arms. Great beers from the best small breweries served with pride, friendliness and sincerity.
Limited Wines - and nibbles are served - cheeses and biscuits too!
Highest hygiene certification and the best pub service I have ever experienced! I wish the Tankerton Arms every success - they deserve it! I cannot wait for my next visit - this evening!

This is a converted shop that is busy and serving high class cask conditioned real ales, that are well kept and served. This is not in the CAMRA Guide, why I do not know, words totally defy all logical thoughts on this matter. They serve wine and cider and snacks, for those who fail to appreciate real ale.
This is an outstanding micro-pub, in excellent surroundings with many people offering advice on future drinks and the entire area.
Wee done!

There's more than forty micropubs in the UK now (wake up pubs minister and Portis High Street revivalists!). The Tankerton Arms is not only a neighbourhood pub but an attraction for visitors that rewards a visit. Why? Because every traveller savours a welcome, a chance to try local brews and a chat. It's all here, with a well kept cellar of interesting beers kept in tip top condition, a relaxed welcome and if you're peckish, a very good cheese plate. Choosing a pint can be a challenge. You may be used to searching for a good one. They're all good at the Tankerton. So start thinking about what you like. Malty and sweet? Dry and hoppy? Fresh and drinkable or tons of mouthfeel? Tell Nigel what you want and you won't be disappointed. A previous reviewer found the place Spartan with ikea tables and expensive beer. Nonsense. There are handmade tables and a growing collection of customers art, artefacts and memorabilia. The beers are averagely priced for the area and the selection is careful and contrasting. Not to be confused with any ordinary pub. Oh, and good conversation too. One day, there'll be a micropub like this in every small town and village. Why not open one now? By the way - if visiting, don't expect desperate-pubs opening hours. The Tankerton is open (check) Tues - Thursday 12-2 and 5-9 and Friday Saturday 12-2 and 5-11pm. No serious food, but there's two excellent Chinese and even better, a staggeringly good foodie restaurant just down the road. With the beach a hop and a skip, what more do you want?

I feel almost compelled to write this, as today, my wife Sandra and I have just spent a really wonderful afternoon at the Tankerton Arms.
I must say that the varied selection of delicious ales were absolutely fantastic, and it seemed that every pint that we ordered just simply tasted better than the one before.
It was obvious that the barman knew his stuff, as he was not only very knowledgeable on his beer, but also crafted at pouring and serving a real ale pint.
The hospitality at the Tankerton Arms was second to none, and it was a true breath of fresh sea air to be in the company of not only an intelligent barman, but also somebody passionate about serving English ale.
We found the Kent cheese selection and biscuits amazing, and to be able to have this choice of bar snack was truly a joy.
In my opinion, a very nice feature of the pub, was the marvellous handmade wooden bespoke tables, and it was obvious that a lot of thought and effort had been taken whilst fitting this place out, we also both loved the display of unusual and authentic bottled beers’.
When we visit Tankerton again, we will make sure that we make a bee line to this unique and very accommodating place, and we will certainly ensure that all our family and friends do the same.
Many thanks.

On holiday and marked this as a must visit bar. Been in 4 nights and found everyone friendly and happy to have a good conversation. Our Dog has also been made welcome and fed biscuits. As a keen CAMRA member I can confirm the beer quality is top class. Can recommend the selection of cheeses on offer. Full marks to the owners for creating a great environment- Awards will come soon.
