This place baffles me. Prices are average. beer is ok. The music, well, you chance your luck really. But the service?????? And the attitude?????? GEEEEEEZ.
Not sure if the guy running it owns it or is running it for someone but I do hope if it is the latter they actually take the time to read these reviews

Profound rudeness from a member of bar staff and the proprietor on returning (politely) a distinctly unsavoury tarnished/dirty beer glass will certainly prevent me using this establishment with any frequency.
Front of house courtesy is the most cost effective means of ensuring returning customers and should be, at the very least, paramount in any licencees mind.

About 60 of us had a good evening, spent about £1200 or so, but when they wanted us to leave the barman started clicking his fingers at us to go, despite the 'regulars' who were still drinking. So, wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to be chased out once they've had enough of you!

We stopped in for a few drinks whilst staying in Whitstable - we came by on 3 different occasions as it was a nice venue with a proper pub vibe.

Good ales and nice selection of wine.

They have live music every now and again so on Friday night we enjoyed the Cuban band.

We have never eaten at the Duke, but go there often on Sunday afternoons, Friday Evenings, and any time they have live music we like.

We use localnlive.com to tell us what is going on in Whitstable, and the Duke is great because it has more room than the other pubs, it's own sound system, and an area to dance in.

Service is excellent. The pub is always busy, but staff are very fast so we get served quickly.

We have yet to eat food here, but we will one day.
