“beware the gravel....”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

"Castle" is OK, limited views from roof. the park is great, take some spare clothes for the kids, they may get wet! Really well maintained grounds but you're a bit edgy to let the kids have a run as the stones on the path will open up knees and hands. Be prepared for screams of pain and a trail of blood if they go down....

“Just stunning!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

I've been to Whitstable Castle grounds a few times in the past, when there have been different events going on, like book fairs, military fairs etc but the most exciting time I had was this year (2012) at a private party held there. The whole castle had been hired out and it was such a fabulous venue for a party. The views across the gardens/sea from the Mallandain Room were fabulous and we caught sight of an amazing sunset from there.

It really is a wonderful venue for any special event - they even do weddings there! I am intending on booking one of the rooms for my 50th. I think the current rate is £50 per hour for a main room, or £400 for the whole castle hire. It's obviously not a "real" castle, as such, more of a manor house that has been structured to look like a castle. It's a lot more welcoming than a real castle, anyway, with lovely wooden floors and beautiful fireplaces.

The gardens are fantastic and well-maintained. They also now have a children's play area which I shall be taking my grandchildren to next week. Oh yes and the gardens are free admission to the public.

It's well worth a visit if you are in the Tankerton/Whitstable area, especially on a lovely sunny day as you can stroll around the gardens, chill out in their Orangery Tea Rooms for refreshments/snacks.

Love it!

Great re development, and ideal kids play area, worth a visit.Coffee shop is well priced, very good choice of cakes and sandwiches and staff are excellent. Sitting outside watching the Bowls and people milling around the grounds is a couple of hours well spent.

“Pleasant Oasis after busy day”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Not a Castle as such, but pleasant House & gardens. We liked just walking around the Gardens which are not yet mature, but show sign of things to come. We then went for Tea & cake in the Orangery. We were then given escorted tour of the Castle House by very enthusiastic Volunteer who knew the History of the Building. Good views of Whitsatble Bay & the Channel from top of the Castle. Entrance & Tour is free, but there is a collection box for donations if you would like to contribute. Their is a pleasant childrens play area
This is an ideal place to spend between 1 & 2 hours to relax & Chill if you have been walking around all day.
