Odd concept that works, no menu just a set price for a variety of tapas style dishes. Steak, potatoes, chicken, meat balls, wild mushrooms, sea bass and salad all well prepared and flavoursome. Service friendly and informal and excellent value for money. Will be back.

We've visited this place twice now and will definitely go again. Obviously some people are troubled by the lack of a menu but this is not an issue for us. They have been happy to accommodate the fact we eat fish but not meat and the dishes have been generally excellent. For our party of 3 we had king prawns, crabcakes and mushrooms on toast, salad and bread to start. All came in delicious sauces/dressings and our plates were wiped clean with the bread. These were followed by a whole sea bass, red mullet fillets and aubergine parmigiana with sauted potatoes, squash and tenderstem broccoli. All again were delicious apart from the aubergine which was undercooked. Despite the fact that we didn't eat all of this we were all quite full.
The waitress immediately agreed to knock £5 off the bill when we told her about the aubergine which is exactly the response you want. Both the women serving were extremely friendly without being intrusive and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Oh and they don't have a wine list either which may upset some people but the White Rioja we had was absloutely delicious.

On our first night in whitstable we came here after a recommendation from a local.

The atmosphere is really relaxed and inviting. There wasn't a menu but instead after ordering drinks a lovely waitress came and took a seat with us and explained how it worked. As we were hungry we opted for the 3 dishes per course for £20 each. Everything was cooked amazingly and everything tasted perfect. We had prawns, mushrooms and meatballs to start followed with lamb, chicken and fish. Definately money well spent and would recommend- lovely to try lots of dishes

The food here is fantastic, all really fresh produce and cooked to order. Very generous portions (couldn't quite finish it all). Excellent value for money and would recommend this to anyone.

WOW ! We booked a meal at Saltmarsh on saturday having had a recommendation from friends. When we read the reviews on this site before going we nearly cancelled. I am so pleased we didn't. We were greeted by James the manager shown to our table for two. The services was perfect, not hurried or intrusive. The food was excellent some of the best I have ever had. What ever you think give it ago, I will be amazed if you don't enjoy yourself. The starters and mains delicious the puddings amazing. Thank you.
