Cafe Rouge is a Franchise and they do vary. The one in Sevenoaks is good as was the one in Reigate when I used to visit it. The Knightsbridge Cafe Rouge, tucked behind Harrods, depends on how busy they are!
Tenterden C.Rouge is again a good place to eat. Staff are always charming and helpful, if a little shortstaffed at times. Food is consistently good. Usually a French Cafe style atmosphere which is very attractive. Seating in front and at the back ( check that Heating is on) and little alcoves to one side. Centre of town, good for morning coffee, lunch and supper, Car parks nearby and as it is in the centre of this charming little town, there is plenty of window shopping to do in the High Street. A super children's playground at the far end of the town. Not to mention the old Railway....so make a day of it then, get your shopping from the Supermarkets tucked out of sight!

Not a regular visitor to Cafe Rouge. However my friends took me to Teneterden to do some shopping, and we called into this restaurant. Despite a poor start from the waiter, the rest of the staff were excellent. The menu is excellent and also has a very good selection for all non meat eaters.I had a mixed selection of starters and and a fish soup as the main. The food was excellent, and the service was also very good. An all round excellent Saturday lunch experience. Give it a try if you are in the area.

Front area of cafe was cluttered and tables uncleared. Sat in rear area, which lacked atmosphere. Starter was unexciting but omelettes were good for main. Pleasant waitress.

We have eaten in groups and as a couple several times at cafe rouge in Tenterden over the last few years. This last time was on Valentines day for an evening meal.
As always we found the atmosphere comfortable with a friendly "buzz", and the staff welcomimg and attentive.
The food was most enjoyable as always. Obviously a French influenced menu. The steaks have always been excellent, but it is worth trying other specials too.
Non! It is not adventurous, so what, but easy to forget that it is part of a large branded chain.
We shall continue to return and recommend to our friends.

I went to the Cafe Rouge as a half term treat with granny and my 3 children. Having vowed never to go back 5 years ago, I thought we would give it another chance…… Not again. The service was ok, apart from one waiter actually pushing his way through and nearly sending my 4 year old flying with no apology. ( he was clearly stressed) The food took over 45 minutes to arrive and was so disappointing. The menu wasn't particularly inspiring....The bread board was presented as sliced french stick served with a packet of butter!! The main courses after a 45 minute wait were revolting and of the 5 of us who ate, the aubergine gratin was the only dish that was ok. The sausages ( offer of the day) were uncooked and pink in the middle, The chicken baguette was luke warm, the goats cheese salad was limp salad garnished with lumps of brown bread topped with slices of goats cheese and my youngest who had the kids menu was served huge anaemic looking sausages which he refused to eat. Usually we go to Prezzo opposite, but it was fully booked!! ( perhaps because it is so much better). We won't return
