“Brilliant Stay”
Reviewed February 18, 2012

My girlfriend had booked this hotel through the internet. It only cost us £28.75 reduced from £128.00. This place is wonderful not becuase it was great value but I would have been happy to have paid the full amount if needed. We had only stayed 1 nite and wished we had stayed more.
On arrival parking was good. Parking is at the back of the hotel and you will be given a pass. Because we arrived a little late we couldnt enjoy the lovely restaurant and bar. The room was great and clean and everything perfect. The room number was Room 15 and be warned, that as you open the door to the room there are two steps down. My girlfriend found this out when she opened the door and fell down the steps into the room. Funny as it was at the time she could have really hurt herself but fortunately didnt. The breakfast was great everything you could ask for.

Stayed recently and was impressed by attention to detail. the rooms were spotless, the bed comfortable and the breakfast good. Be aware that this is an historic buiding and that room sizes vary.

Room Tip: Room 9 is very small! You have to squeeze up past TV; better for just one person

Looking for a Friday night away from it all break came across the White Lion website and got an absolute bargain rate.
Having driven through Tenterden many times but never stopped I didnt know what i,d been missing. The pub is right in the centre of this charming little town.Food in the pub was good and very reasonably priced. The room was up 2 flights of stairs, quite small but nicely furnished, very comfortable bed, plenty of toiletries&drink sachets.Breakfast was superb ,served by friendly staff.

We stayed late December 2011 and enjoyed a great Hotel Promotion.
I know of this hotel very well and have eaten here before over the years, but have never stayed as a guest.
The rooms are very good and modern, we were very lucky and stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel, so was very quiet.
I did not see any air conditioning in the room which I only can imagine would be very hot in the Summer, but a fan is supplied.
The staff was very friendly and the meal was very good at the restaurant and affordable.

I have just come back from the White Lion where I stayed for two nights with my boyfriend.
We had the best time! Arrived on Friday afternoon and greeted with a warm welcome at the reception. Was shown up to our room which was of a decent size, spotlessly clean and well decorated. Modernised but still in keeping with Tenterden's 'olde worlde' theme.
Digital TV in the room and little shower gels, shampoos and soaps in the bathroom.
After a mooch round Tenterden High Street we went to the White Lion restaurant. Lots of foods to choose from and very reasonable prices. The food was absolutely spot on- so well cooked and tasty. A huge special mention to Martin and Charlotte who were waiting our table. Their customer service was second to none. They were attentive and professional and we were so impressed that we went to tell the manager. The manager was great and thanked us for our comments and then upgraded us to a superior room for the second night!!!
Slept well in the first room- Number 3- bed was comfy and room was a good temp. The second room was fantastic. Four poster bed, a jet spa bath (Which is amazing!) and a bay window overlooking tenterden high street.
The only thing that let the hotel down was that they didn't tell us there was a live band there that night. The set was from about half nine until midnight and was very loud but the chamber maid had already supplied earplugs in the room that morning.. In any case, they were actually really good and we had a little boogie in our room!!!
Breakfast was included in the price and was lovely both days.
Overall it was fantastic value, exceptional service and we will definitely be coming again!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 and 5 and both were great

We stayed last minute in this Hotel/Coach House for one night. We paid a very reasonable rate for the room. The rooms are well presented and each unique in its own quirky period way, but very comfortable and functional.

All the staff were extremely helpful and personable. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding. The best overnight stay we have had ever. (We have stayed about 300 nights in various hotels over the last few years)

Definately recommended. Well done.

We stayed here for one week Nov/Dec 2011. Yes, there are hotels with better decor, more facilities, more comprehensive menus and an all round air of superiority but they do not offer such a welcoming ambiance and certainly not at this pricing level. Unless you were looking for things to complain about you would not regret staying here. Maybe we were just lucky with the room but it was perfectly comfortable, quiet (OK a neighbouring garage made bit of noise at 8.30am one morning) and warm. The food is well prepared and the restaurant just seems to run without being managed (now there's a trick!). The staff range from very good to delightful. No reservations....it's just plain great.

Room Tip: Second floor back, maybe. Didn't stay in the others.
