Yes, I agree that staff at the Kings Arms are perfectly friendly and welcoming, but nothing out of the ordinary. As for value for money, it felt ridiculously overpriced. For £85 a night I think one should be able to expect a much higher degree of comfort and style. The building externally is charming for its age, but this doesn't include the 1980s decor in the bedrooms. Our double bed was small, creaky and uncomfortable; the shower alternated from scorching hot to freezing cold and had a tendency to fall of the pole. The bathroom generally was tiny and in need of updating. The smell of cooking fat and the noise of the extractor fan came through our window from morning to late at night. A tea tray and a few peak freans biscuits didn't justify the price of the room. Not impressed.
