“Just perfect”
Reviewed January 13, 2018 for a stay in December 2017

Sandwich is great place to visit. We also have fond memories of where we once lived and do return to see family. This house is just perfect. Great location, well equipped and very cosy. Also not many property rentals allow 3 dogs so we were so grateful to Michelle (the owner) who was willing to help us. Hopefully the next time we return to the area, Stour cottage will be available as we would definitely like to stay again.

“Just the ticket”
Reviewed March 19, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

This small cottage was just was we needed. So clean, cosy and convenient and a very comfortable bed The car was left outside the front door and didn't move throughout our stay. The town with its 11 pubs, which all boast good beer (although we only tried three) is a short walk. The town is brim full with history and all so compact. It offers some wonderful walks. The bus services are first-class, and all with very friendly drivers. In fact, everyone everywhere was so friendly. We had a lovely evening at the Empire cinema which cost us just a fiver each and was only 5 minutes walk away. The Mermaid Locker was a wonderful bonus with service, food and drink which was delightful. Plus we had wonderful weather. Hope to return.

“Excellent stay”
Reviewed July 10, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed at Stour Cottage for a week at the end of June 2016. The cottage is very good- compact bur comfortable and very well equipped. Everything was clean and well maintained. Sandwich was a Revelation. It is a small town but feels like a village with plenty of places to eat and drink. The cottage itself is on a quote location with a supermarket just around the corner. If you are there in the summer, there is a cricket ground about 100 metres away which is a very relaxing place to spend a summer's evening. Sandwich is also very well located for visiting the nearby towns of Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate though I would give the latter a miss. Canterbury is about 30 minutes away. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

They say all good things come in small packages and this cottage is no exception.
Fully equipped with everything you could wish for, even Wi-Fi which was a bonus.
Nicely decorated and clean and the bed and bedding was beautiful, shame
it was let down by a not so good mattress.
The cottage is perfectly located for local amenities, shops, restaurants, sightseeing and fabulous walks - no car required.
It was so good to be able to find somewhere as nice as this that would
accept 2 dogs (Lucy & Jacob) who both had a wonderful time. The area is a dogs paradise and the people are so friendly.
It was very easy to book and make contact with the owner Michelle who we had to ring on our arrival in Sandwich as we got lost due to our Sat Nav deciding to have a mind of its own. She was able to direct us all the way to
the door.
The only downside was that our long weekend wasn't long enough. Will definitely book again later in the year.

I'm so pleased that you liked the cottage. I have taken note of your comments about the mattress and have bought a memory foam topper for extra comfort. I do hope you'll come and visit again soon. The summer is getting quite booked up so do let me know if you have specific dates in mind. Best wishes, Michelle.

“Lovely cottage in great location”
Reviewed February 2, 2016 for a stay in April 2015

Stour Cottage is a lovely holidays cottage located in the heart of Sandwich.
The cottage is well decorated and very well equipped with all you need for relaxing and enjoyable holidays.
There is a garage allocated to the property and plenty of car park spaces available in the area too.
We have stayed at the cottage on many occasions over the years as it has all we need as well as being spotless.
The owner is only few minutes away in case you need anything and very friendly and wanting to please its guests.
We highly recommend this holidays cottage.

“Cute cottage, perfect location, everything we hoped for.”
Reviewed February 2, 2016 for a stay in June 2015

We booked this cottage at the last minute for a short break to have a rest. The cottage was well equipt and comfortable and so convenient for everything (though very quiet) that we didn't use the car, we just walked everywhere. Loved the history of the town and how pretty it was. There were so many places we wanted to visit and didn't have time we'll definitely be back. Great dog friendly pubs close to the cottage which do lovely food, especially the Kings Arms which is only 5 minutes walk. Want to visit Canterbury Cathedral next time.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and liked the cottage. There are indeed a lot of interesting places and attractions to visit locally and further afield. You could even do the 20 minute to Dover and take a day trip over to France. I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

“Small but lovely”
Reviewed December 14, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We had planned to stay for a whole week at Stour Cottage but due to a family emergency we had to leave after only a couple of days.

The house is smack bang in the middle of Sandwich so you can fall out of your door into some excellent bars, restaurants and shops.

The house itself is compact, but fine for just 2 people. We also had a dog with us which made it a little cramped as there wasn't really anywhere for his cage, but we managed.

Comments have been made on other sites about the house needing a little TLC, and yes there may have been a few cracks here and there and a bit of peeling paint, but this doesn't make any difference to the enjoyment of the property. It is clean and fresh and worth a visit.

Parking was a bit cramped, but didn't have any difficulties. Didn't have access to the garage so not sure if we would have fit in there.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the previous guests to you mistakenly took the garage keys home with them, which have now been returned, so I am sorry you weren't able to use the garage. There are planned works to renovate the window frames in the spring as it's not possible to do this to a good standard in the wetter months. This should smarten the cottage up no end. Also glad the location suited you. Sandwich is a great place to visit with dogs especially. I hope that you'll come and visit again soon.
