“Mind Your Head”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

And not just with the wide selection of wines, beers & spirits. There are some low doorways too! An odd name but this is the archetypal English pub with a wonderful selection of food & places to sit...inside & out. Just round the corner from the Guildhall so handy after your visit there.

“If you want a gristle sandwich for £5.50 then it's your hostelry!!”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

My husband and I visited for a pint and sandwich. I ordered a beef sandwich, which was mainly gristle and inedible. I complained but nobody came to see me to find out my request and the bar man said it should have been OK as it was brisket. I felt I should have had my money back. It was the worst sandwich ever and I will never go back there again.

“Would not go again”
Reviewed July 18, 2011

We decided to give the red cow a second chance as the first time wasn't that great. Why did we bother! The wait between meals is far too long. The quality of food ordered was poor, in our case a cheap cut of beef being passed of as rib eye. It was painful to try and eat and was fobed off that it was an end cut. What a load of rubbish! I Do not recommend. Stay away to avoid disappointment.

“Try the Kings Arms or New Inn”
Reviewed July 7, 2011

This used to be the best Pub in Sandwich with a nice large Garden. however it has bee ruined by the current Landlord. The country English menu has been replaced. The nice little corner units have been removed and the floor has been replaced by cheep tiles, but as a the Beer is Try the new inn which featured in the Walkers crisp advert or the Kings Arms which is a short walk from the town centre nice fressh local fish
The Fleur De Lys is not very good either, The Crispin will be overcrowded. The George And Dragon was built in 1446 and is a quiet street but is maybe difficult to find but it is a nice pub Try the roast rib of beef with Yorkshire. The Admiral Owen is close to the Crispin but the food has always been good... the Market Inn is in the middle of the town and is OK.

Nice friendly pub. Large portions and good value for money. Landlady very welcoming and made us feel at home even though we are not local. Would recommend a visit.
