Quite a good meal for the money from the two course lunch menu. Olives were similar to those found in the large economy bottles.

We had a table upstairs with a view of the river. The place is ok but nothing really memorable. Our waitress (who said she was fairly new) was very nice and pleasant. Three of us ordered the beer battered fish and chips. We were all three happy with our choice and finished every bite! I'd go back to this place but only for the fish n chips since there were other reviewers who had bad experiences. I guess we got lucky.

We chose to go here as the setting was so lovely and the menu sounded promising. The atmosphere wasn't great but we were early so understood it may be quieter. You could hear the chef shouting with staff through the restaurant which was only drowned out by the awful pop music.
Our meals arrived looking like they'd come straight from the microwave and with different accompaniments than the menu said. I'd chosen vegetable chilli with whole grain rice and salad with no dressing, this turned up with white rice and salad covered in oil and (unordered) garlic bread?! When we asked if we could have what we'd ordered we were told that's all they had ( at start of service on a Saturday evening) my husbands fish pie was pale and uninteresting.
We didn't stay for dessert and even though we had been joined by 6 other diners they were turning people away, such a strange place! Wouldn't go back if you paid me.

Don't waste your money! There's better places to dine in Sandwich! This was our 3rd visit and nothing had changed! Food mediocre! Service mediocre! Only the position of the place makes it worth a 'look'! But 'you pays yer money and takes yer choice'!

When you picture a ploughman's lunch you don't think of a foot long pale baguette with a block of cheese and a few soggy leaves. But that's what you'll get. Go to the Bell Hotel across the road for a much nicer Sandwich sandwich.
