We chose starters of whitebait and mushrooms stuffed with brie and chives. They were both delicious. For our main course we had beer battered fish and chips which were superb instead of the stodgy, oily fish and chips some places serve. The staff are really friendly without being overbearing. The food is beautifully presented and other diners appeared very satisfied with their choices.

Good position by the river at Sandwich but we hadn't checked the TA reviews before we went. Seating outside on this hot day was welcome if a little cramped. We four had sandwiches and shared a bowl of chips - ample fillings and hot fresh cooked chips.Staff courteous and competent . A glass of coke was flat and it was changed for a tin which was fine. We queried the bill and discovered we had been charged £2.20 for each of the small glasses of soft drinks - one coke, one lemonade ,one lemonade and lime and one soda and lime. The original flat coke had come from a 2 litre bottle. The can was a 330 ml size. There is no drinks menu or price list. We just felt the charges for these soft drinks was excessive and it spoiled our experience and we shall not be returning.

We popped in for a quick lunch. The first thing to note is that he wheelchair ramp is rather steep- ok if you have some nerve!

The sandwiches are very expensive indeed. We paid nearly £50 for 7 sandwiches and a 5 drinks. This would have been perfectly acceptable if the wuality had been good enough but unfortunately, it was not. We were served cheap sliced supermarket sliced bread, with various fillings (not bad, just very average- and therefore worthy of only average prices). The ''pinch of chips' was in fact a few tortilla chips and not 'chips' therefore rather misleading.
Also the lettuce garnish was past its best and the edges pf most leaves had gone mushy.

The prices for sandwiches range from £5.75 for a BLT to £9.25 for a crab baguette. 75p extra for a baguette is just plain greedy.

The toilets are Shabby and tired, clean but smelly.

The serving staff were perfectly pleasant and the food arrived promptly however the kitchen staff were heard to have muttered 'boring crowd'when our sandwich order was placed.

Overall, it was ok but a sandwich and a bag of crisps from a supermarket, sitting on a bench would have been far superior.

Had luch here, an la Carte menu, a "Special lunch menu" and a "
"Set lunch menu" were available as well as "lite bites" I ate off the Set Menu my wife chose from the "Special Lunch menu" they were able to accomodate requests like no cheese topping on the fish pie etc. The food was tasty, the waitresses competent and attentive, pricing was reasonable for what we had, the visit enhanced our half day in Sandwich.
