Description: New head chef Ricky Smith arrived in April 2014 and our menu has completely altered to incorporate fresh fish, meat & seafood, most of which is locally sourced from local suppliers. Enjoy first class food overlooking the River Stour or in our flower filled courtyard. Families welcome, private hire available.

It's a pretty place but what made the occassion was the excellence of service by the young lady serving us. The food was OK, could have been better with a few tweaks and with such excellent fresh fish close by - why do they have to play aorund with it. Let the food be the hero not the damn chef. The wine list was a bit dull but the waitress was very honest and did us a deal. I would go back and be more selectibe on the menu, perhaps makign a few special requests. If the same young lady is there, I am sure we shall be listened to.
Pity - this place could be really great.

Went there just because we were put off by inadequate selection and high prices at the tea shop in the Secret Gardens and found this a good choice. Nice selection of light meals (which we did not have) - as well as a good jam-scone-and-tea cream tea, seating in comfortable leather arm chairs overlooking the quay. Good atmosphere and pleasant staff too.
We will try it for a meal next time, despite some iffy TA reviews.

Went there for lunch. Couldn't detect any cooking aromas at all upon entering(usually a bad sign). Waitress was very polite and attentive so we ordered prawn cocktail and seafood chowder to start.
Both were excellent so moved on to a roast and this is where things went wrong.
The meat had clearly not been cooked that day simply laid in warm gravy. The Yorkshire pudding had been reheated and in doing so taken on a very rubber like quality.
The veg had been cooked in some kind of herb water leaving the green beans and carrots with an unpleasant aftertaste.
This is a charming little restaurant being let down by the quality of the main courses.
At £34 for two courses and a diet coke each I did not consider this value for money.
If I want a roast dinner I will stick to the Toby carvery.

We have visited this restaurant several times before and have always enjoyed the food and the staff have always been helpful. On this occasion the food was exceptionally good and the waitress absolutely charming. We will visit again very soon.

Had a great time in this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I did not have the same experience as Helen below. Everyone was friendly and would definitely go back. It's in a beautiful setting as am looking forward to the weather improving as will be going back. Thanks for a lovely evening.
