I don't normally post reviews but felt compelled to do so after a really delightful night out at the Fisherman's Wharf in Sandwich. We're not local to the area but had to come down to East Kent on family business and found ourselves at a loose end on an otherwise bleak and cold evening! We stumbled upon the Fisherman's Wharf whilst looking around Sandwich for somewhere to eat and we were immediately struck by the warm welcome and cosy surroundings (just what we needed that night). The service was prompt (although not so efficient we felt rushed) and the food was delicious. Everything tasted so fresh and was beautifully prepared - we were only popping in for a quick bite but ended up staying all evening and ordering three courses! Now we've discovered Sandwich and this lovely restaurant, we're definitely going to make a return visit, hopefully for a bit longer next time (and ideally with a bit of sunshine to enjoy the views of the river!)

“Better than expected”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

Booked a table before reading tripadvisor reports. I did not find many positive reviews but we went anyway. We were pleasantly suprised. Four of us enjoyed all three couses. All had different main and deserts and no complaints although most deserts were "bought in". Not all the wines were avaliable and we had the last of the bottled beers, we did not try the coffee. Tastecard was accepted so the bill was very reasonable and we will be going again. It was a cold night but we were warm in the upstairs dining room. It would be a very nice setting in the Spring/Summer.

“Terrible food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Went to this restaurant last night with another couple of friends. Three of the starters were ok but my friends pâté was tasteless. We all ordered surf n turf. The steaks were supposed to be rare, but they were overcooked. Not a spot of pink in sight ! We complained and the waitress agreed with us that they were over cooked, and offered to replace them. The second steaks arrived but they were just the same. We could not eat them. The waitress was great, she totally agreed with us that the food was really bad. Her comment was "I have saved the meat to show the chef when he comes back Tomorrow. I asked where the chef was and told that he had gone home! So who was cooking our steaks I wonder? We were offered complimentary desserts but really just did not want to eat anything else there. To be fair in the end they did not charge us for the food, but it spoilt a special evening with friends which I had organized. I felt so bad about it. I would avoid this restaurant. The fact that it was almost empty on a Saturday night should perhaps have warned us !

“Good for, with a few buts!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

Have know this restaurant for many years but have been back a couple of times recently. The menus is a bit more limited than it used to be and tonight they had run out of prawns! The waitress was very good as were the starters and main courses; desserts disappointing. Good evening but a bit over priced.

looked interesting and a nice place to sit, but the coffee was the worst I had ever had, just left it and went.
