I do love french food, and the produce on offer looked tantalisingly good. the cold weather meant a decision to eat inside, so as the two tables downstairs were taken, so it was upstairs to the main eatery, no bookings, so no tables, but they kindly cleared the display table, which although in a horrible position, it was at least in the warm, a glance at the menu showed that the baguettes were double the price of the prices at the deli downstairs, so with customers pushing past to get to the toilets in our arranged seating, we decided to brave the cold. picking up some food from the deli on the way out. despite the efforts of the nice gent serving, ordering seemed to be a particular effort and I didn't realise at the time, but an extra £3 was added onto the bill from ordering to paying? the worst part was biting into the baguettes down by the river to to find a slither of filling, no butter(except in the one where it was asked to be omitted) and dry salad. after all that effort throughly disappointing. I love having places to get gorgeous continental food locally, and although I don't mind paying extra for a nice atmosphere to eat it in, I prefer not to be fitted in or ripped off for the privilege. I would like to give the place a second chance sometime, but with so.many good places to eat nearby, it may be a while until I do.
