“good food, but I'd like to be able to taste it”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

I do love french food, and the produce on offer looked tantalisingly good. the cold weather meant a decision to eat inside, so as the two tables downstairs were taken, so it was upstairs to the main eatery, no bookings, so no tables, but they kindly cleared the display table, which although in a horrible position, it was at least in the warm, a glance at the menu showed that the baguettes were double the price of the prices at the deli downstairs, so with customers pushing past to get to the toilets in our arranged seating, we decided to brave the cold. picking up some food from the deli on the way out. despite the efforts of the nice gent serving, ordering seemed to be a particular effort and I didn't realise at the time, but an extra £3 was added onto the bill from ordering to paying? the worst part was biting into the baguettes down by the river to to find a slither of filling, no butter(except in the one where it was asked to be omitted) and dry salad. after all that effort throughly disappointing. I love having places to get gorgeous continental food locally, and although I don't mind paying extra for a nice atmosphere to eat it in, I prefer not to be fitted in or ripped off for the privilege. I would like to give the place a second chance sometime, but with so.many good places to eat nearby, it may be a while until I do.

“Delicious food and friendly service”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We really liked the good value food here: the mixed platter is a delicious diversion to those who like to graze through cured meats and cheeses. The coffee is also excellent

“Great food and service”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We were visiting Sandwich with a group of friends for the weekend and arranged to meet at the No Name Bistro for lunch. We had booked in advance, choosing soup followed by some stunning platters of cold meats, cheese and fruit ,served with a selection of bread. We received a warm welcome and friendly service. The food was excellent. This was a great start to an enjoyable weekend. Went back the next day for coffees and hot chocolate.

“Lovely spot for a spot of lunch!”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

We often treat ourselves to a light lunch here at the weekend. Lovely quiches, goats cheese and all things French, of course. Serving staff are a delight and were very willing to accept that the salad dressing has been a bit too generous lately! Must pop back and see if there's been a change. Now there's an excuse!

Lovely place to go for a natter with friends or family or even for a solo lunch.

Enjoy!
