Description: The Rose and Crown at Mundy Bois is your quintessential County pub in the middle of an idyllic part of Kent. The 17th Century building has seen some comings and goings over the years but is now in the safe hands of Dermot and Lisa Nally since November 2013. The promise is to deliver a warm and friendly welcome to all our visitors and hope that they can relax and enjoy the experience. Head Chef Tony Lemaitre has over 30 years' experience in the kitchen sharpening his skills in the Hotels and restaurants of Paris before bringing all his spirit and Joie de vivre to the pubs and restaurants of Kent. Tony is supported by his sous chef Robert Clark whose work and training under Tony has created one of the finest long talents in the area. Front of House we have Alex Ralph who has been working in pubs all his career and defines everything that is great and good In the hospitality industry. The Rose and Crown is building the bonds between the good old fashion pubs atmospheres aligned to a first class restaurant serving locally sourced produce while understanding, we are at the end of the day, just a pub serving the local community.

Super food and good value. We gathered that their chef used to be at Elvey Farm up the road (see other review).

We had a ploughman's lunch here and it was absolutely super! The best we have ever eaten - and served so prettily, it was a feast for the eyes.

Rediscovered this lovely pub in beautiful rural setting after a few years. Inside had been modernised but food was still excellent value and freshly cooked. Simple menu but good portions.
Friendly staff and manager came out in person to respond to a minor criticism and was pleasant and understanding. Definitely recommend.

We discovered the Rose and Crown by accident, as we had a walk planned in the area (Time Out Vol 2 Book of Walks near London) only to discover that the Swan inn at Little Chart nearby was closed for the day. Well we were in no way disappointed. Lunchtime menu and value was just superb. We could only manage 2 courses. VERY pleasant welcome from the staff as we arrived. My only criticism is that their beer range is dull - Harveys, Ruddles and Doom Bar. They would do better to reduce hand pumps to 2 and source the local Harveys ale and a Kent Micro - such as the Kent brewery, or Whitstable brewery. That way their beer range would be local and delicious, just like their food. This pub deserves to succeed. Go there and support it.
