Description: The Rose and Crown at Mundy Bois is your quintessential County pub in the middle of an idyllic part of Kent. The 17th Century building has seen some comings and goings over the years but is now in the safe hands of Dermot and Lisa Nally since November 2013. The promise is to deliver a warm and friendly welcome to all our visitors and hope that they can relax and enjoy the experience. Head Chef Tony Lemaitre has over 30 years' experience in the kitchen sharpening his skills in the Hotels and restaurants of Paris before bringing all his spirit and Joie de vivre to the pubs and restaurants of Kent. Tony is supported by his sous chef Robert Clark whose work and training under Tony has created one of the finest long talents in the area. Front of House we have Alex Ralph who has been working in pubs all his career and defines everything that is great and good In the hospitality industry. The Rose and Crown is building the bonds between the good old fashion pubs atmospheres aligned to a first class restaurant serving locally sourced produce while understanding, we are at the end of the day, just a pub serving the local community.

Trying to find a good restaurant in the Headcorn/Pluckley/Cranbrook/Tenterden area is not easy. Cellinis in Headcorn could have filled a glaring gap, but has failed dismally; the delightful Terracotta in Cranbrook has sadly closed; the Smarden Bell seems to have lost its way - but some of its "offspring" are doing a brilliant job at the Rose & Crown!

Other reviews say it all: just two examples of attention to detail - the restaurant doesn't have fillet steak on the menu - but they will get it in for you subject to notice; we recently had Sunday lunch there and the joint owner (?) said he would not be charging my wife for the roast beef as "it wasn't up to standard"!!! I think the first time ever that this has happened to us.

Such attention to detail pays off - I just hope it doesn't become excessively popular, with the ensuing problems that can bring.

Under new ownership and thank goodness. There has been a significant transformation - very well ruin, warm welcome, including for the dog, good food and beer. Will definitely return.

We enjoyed it so much last week we thought we would try again. Tricky to find in the fog but well worth it. Welcomed by the roaring log fire and attentive staff. Choices were made whilst relaxing at the bar and shown to our table when ready. Never tried pheasant before so gave it a go. Beautifully prepared, off the bone, with a gorgeous brandy sauce. Veg well cooked too, dauphinois to die for! Fair priced wine , in all, a wonderful experience that will be repeated soon.

This is my second attempt at writing a review however the last one was removed.no idea why! Congratulations Andy, Tony, Alex and the rest of the team on restoring my favourite pub/restaurant to the best in the area. The food is to die for and it's not just us saying it our guests do as well, including one of our very well known musicians who dined there in July was full of praise for a rural pub producing the quality and presentation of food he'd have expected to find in a capital city. We wish you every sucess and will continue to recommend our guests to the Rose and Crown
