“Spanish & Portuguese/Brazilian soups, tapas and dishes.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

Terrifically tasty authentic food, nice people/really good friendly service and the best coffee I`ve had in a long time. All of which, together with the background music took me back to Copacabana, and then back to Portugal. An absolute gem, the sopa de mariscos was to die for!

“A nice difference”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

I went to cafe Alma's a couple weeks back for lunch, and I must say I was incredibly impressed. I chose the potato and leek soup which was full of flavour and then the chorizo which was served with a delicious home made piri piri sauce ( which was made spicier for my taste) I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also attended Alma's tapas night where free tasters were given out which were also outstanding !

“Great cafe/restaurant - good value and interesting food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

I was very pleased to see the new cafe in the revamped WestCoast club. It's got sophisticated decor, and friendly staff. I went in the evening, and had a caipirinha cocktail, which was excellent, but it is the food that is worth going for. Interesting dishes you won't find elsewhere, with a welcome range of options for vegetarians and vegans (although I'm an omnivore). We had a great vegan soup "Stone Soup" (there is a story about the name!) which is actually a tasty mixture of beans and vegetables. I also had a creamy cod dish (bacalhao) which is made with fresh, smoked and salted cod - quite delicious. The style of the cooking is rustic and homely (if you come from a home with a good cook!) and the ethos of the place is a refreshing change from other local eateries. I will definitely be going back!

“Margate Bar and eatery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Margate is attracting some pretty hot new places to eat and socialise...Newly re-opened...Caffe Alma, 3 King Street, Margate, just oppposite the Turner Gallery, can be found nestled amongst some equally interesting shops, and galleries and is well worth a visit. The food is freshly prepared and cooked by charming, friendly staff. Alma (meaning soul in Portuguese and Spanish) serves delicious treats and lunch menu's served with tea's, coffee's or even something special from the extensive wine list.
Delectable continental breakfast, vegan cakes, Portuguese and South American pastries and desserts as well as traditional English ones, from only £1.
Their coffee selection is vast and have several delicious and nutritious vegan options made with soya, coconut, almond, rice and hazelnut milk, which we recommend you all to try, from £1.50
A variety of teas and infusions is also available, cake of the day+ 1 hot drink costs only £2.
fresh juices (suco) are made daily and our milk shakes are made to order with real fruit, from £1
A small range of freshly made savoury snacks and tapas is available daily and listed on the special's board, all under £5
All freshly cooked to order meals can be eaten at the café or taken away with you and they generally take up to 15 minutes to be ready!
The Alma can tailor a meal just for you and also cater for events large and small.

You can also pick out a ready-to-cook dish or two as well as sauces, marinates and seasoning.

will certainly be back!
