“Great find, shame about the barman!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

Absolutely brilliant little drinking bolt hole. Open fire, mismatched furniture around barrel tables and an amazing list of Kentish wines and ciders. Great ambience and well worth a visit.

The barman wasn't the friendliest, didn't say hello when we came in and wasn't particularly helpful when asking for advice. On the plus side the lady who was at the bar later was lovely.

We would definitely go back......

“Great place, but 'jack Sparrow' behind the bar needs to cheer up!”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

A great place to cap off a chilled night with friends. Good selection of Ales and ciders....especially the 'Toffee Apple' flavour. However the barman that resembled Jack Sparrow from pirates of the caribean could learn some manners or at least look happy to be at work. I won't go to far into his marvelous personality traits but here's a for instance: ME 'other than cider what else do you sell'? ....Barman 'Ale'
..ME ' Any particular one you recommend?' Barman 'Ale is Ale...it's not rocket science buddy'. The guys whole body language suggested that he had either a bad day or was just stuck up and rude. Either way a nice place didn't eat so can't comment.....

My husband and ihave Ben here several times. I love the rustic feel of the place. The wine and beer goes down very well. A must try.

“a gem!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

On a trip down from London, we called into this diamond of a pub, stillage for nine beers (three on, well it was Tuesday) and a dozen bag-in-box ciders. A drinkers' paradise, the Goachers Mild was stunningly good. If you are in Margate and like good beer/cider, this is the place to visit. Didn't try the food, so unable to comment on it.

“Like going back in time!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

A good experience and enjoyed a pint - would have been nice to have had another but unfortunately driving. Hard to choose with such a wide variety. Reminded me of many CAMRA pubs visited in the 70's with sawdust on the floor and casks of beer and cider piled high. Loved the till which showed prices in pounds, shillings and pence! Shame we had to pay in new money. This pub is in a nice area with a couple of very nice cafes and vintage shops in the vicinity too.
