“The great escape”

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Reading Rooms B&B, a double celebration, my husbands birthday and a return to our honey-moon destination, Clifftonville/Margate, from 40 years ago, my, where have those years gone? We couldn't have made a better choice; excellent accommodation, a comfortable bedroom,
glorious bathroom, fantastic breakfasts; with a menu that made decisions very difficult; and hosts who were perfect; friendly and helpful without being intrusive; a wonderful combination. Would certainly recommend this beautiful B&B for a relaxing "get away from it all" break. Thank you both for a lovely stay.

The rooms are clean and large and bright. The huge bathroom and the products, would put most hotels in the world to shame. The breakfast came hot and on time, and the choice was impressive. Not much wrong here at all. Recommend.

Very well presented Georgian boutique hotel. Our room was well furnished in a tasteful décor reflecting the Georgian property. The en suite bathroom was very luxurious and the breakfast (bought to your room) offered a good choice. We had the full English which was very good. I would recommend the orange juice with fresh ginger!

The Reading Rooms is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in a restored Georgian property over- looking a quiet, leafy square in Margate. The accommodation offers all the luxury of a 5 star hotel with thoughtful extra touches. The breakfasts are incredible, inventive food that is freshly cooked and brought to your room. None of those awkward, hushed conversations over breakfast here!

The owners Louise and Liam are delightful, it's not often you are made to feel so welcome in someone else home. They should be proud of what they have accomplished. Hopefully I'll be back before too long.

We stayed here for my birthday and was the nicest place we have stayed, surpassing 5* hotels and boutique hotels. The owners could not have been more accommodating or helpful. The breakfast was phenomenal and ever element delicious. Lots of nice touches such as the REN products, cotton wool, magazines, games, dvds, slippers, DAB radio. The bath was to die for, sooo deep.

Only improvements we could think of, and are very minor, would be heated towel rail and place for hand towel near the sink.

Will definitely be back :)

Every aspect of the Reading Rooms experience - from perusing their website to checking out was a pleasure.
A comprehensive email listing favourite restaurants and sights, as well as clear directions, was offered before arriving. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the lovely Louise who allowed us to settle in a couple of hours earlier than the check in time. This meant we could enjoy our glorious room (Room 1) a little bit longer. The nasty weather - not at all exclusive to Margate (which I hear is often a haven of gentle weather when surrounding areas are suffering gloom) did nothing to dampen our spirits, which were heightened due to our expectations being magnificently met by the room's appearance and by the delicious afternoon tea of fresh coffee and biscuits that Louise bought in to us.
The bed was lush and large. The bathroom was beautifully appointed and accomodating. The tea and coffee facilities were plentiful. Fresh milk was kept fresh in a clever container. Thankfully the tv did not dominate the room and dvds and books were available - both entertainments had excellent choices.
The Ren toiletries were gorgeous and I certainly made good use of those! The Bath was immense and deserves its capital. I didn't try the shower but according to my companion it was very good.
We had a wonderful quiet night's sleep in the glorious soft linen. The breakfast... Oh my word! The choice was staggering - simply the best breakfast I have ever been offered at a B&B. Astounding. Fresh, very tasty and incredibly indulgent. And bought to the room to be taken at our leisure rather than amongst other bleury eyed guests. Breakfast as it is meant to be; in your dressing gown and with a recovery nap to follow!
Louise and Liam have done an amazing job with this beautiful establishment and they are very kind and accomodating. There simply are not enough superlatives. Brilliant!

I'd heard wonderful things about the Reading Rooms and was really looking forward to my stay in what sounded like a unique and truly luxurious B&B - I certainly wasn't disappointed, my expectations were exceeded in every way. Lou and Liam have done an incredible job in refurbishing this Georgian house into a stylish boutique guesthouse - I adore the beautiful decor and the mix of antique furnishing with modern touches is really special, with a fantastic sense of personality. The rooms are exquisite - I stayed in room 2 but was given a peep at the others and they're all of equal size and exceptionally high standards, but with their own individual twists. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, I didn't want to get up but for the fact I was looking forward to a relaxing soak in the gorgeous rolltop bath, with the added luxury of complimentary REN toiletries - serious pampering!

Breakfast served in your room, enjoyed leisurely while lazing in the bathroom provided, at the time of your choosing was a fantastic idea - so much more enjoyable and relaxed than hurriedly making it down to a communal dining room at fixed hours. And it's no ordinary breakfast - I've been lucky enough to stay in some 5* luxury hotels and the Reading Rooms breakfast is by far the best I've ever had. All organic produce, freshly squeezed juices, utterly delicious and a fantastic selection of delicious breakfast options, every hotel could take a lesson from the Reading Rooms' breakfast!

Lou and Liam are fantastic hosts, they take incredible care over all their guests and their tips & help in selecting & booking lovely places to visit and eat (don't leave Margate without visiting the quirky but awesome Mad Hatters tea rooms & the Ambrette - Michelin starred Indian fusion just 5 mins walk away) was invaluable.

If you want a truly relaxing getaway from London in somewhere with real personality and luxury at a very reasonable price, a stay at the Reading Rooms is not to be missed.

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback. It means a lot that things we do are appreciated by guests. Room service breakfasts are a thing that we pioneered in a B&B setting and we're really pleased it's well liked. Thanks again and really glad you enjoyed your stay.
