Description: With stunning, polished marble floors, soaring 12 foot windows and a sea view balcony, we believe that The Orangery restaurant is the finest dining venue in Thanet. Set beside Smiths Court Hotel, the bay windows have a great view across the bandstand and Oval lawns, and out over the sea. Our chefs are committed to using fresh, local meat, fish and vegetables - no wonder we are a member of Produced in Kent. We run an à la carte menu alongside a set-price table d’hote every evening, and these menus are redesigned in line with seasonality. The table d’hote menu is also offered for lunch, alongside bar snacks and sandwiches. Finally, we offer our famous Sunday carvery from 12pm to 3pm every Sunday. If you’re looking to cater for more people for a special occasion, we can provide excellent bespoke menus and service for all types of functions. Birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings and weddings are all available, and The Orangery is also licensed to conduct civil wedding ceremonies.

Four us enjoyed an excellent Sunday buffet lunch on 4th of August. Gammon, lamb and beef were on offer for £12.99 which included a starter. Plenty of vegetables to choose from and a huge Yorkshire pudding. Excellent and very friendly staff. Abby the owner also came and asked if all was well.

Thank you for your review of the Sunday Carvery. We are delighted that you enjoyed the choice of beef, lamb, and gammon, and (sorry to correct you!) but the price is actually £12.50 - Every little helps!

We hope that you come back and see us again soon!

My partner treated me to a Sunday carvery for my birthday, so we only used the restaurant facilities. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and the general atmosphere was spectacular. The restaurant has a skylight, so the room was nice and bright; the waiters were polite, professional and even joked around when they brought out my birthday cake, saying "look what I found on the dessert menu!".
Overall, it was an unforgettable visit, definitely worth every penny, would highly recommend.

The view was brilliantand the good local food was sometimes spoilt by the cooking. Meat was drowned in gravy unless a special request was made. (we were on half board and had three dinners)

Thank you for your comments. We often find that guests who travel as part of a group prefer a little more gravy, which is why it was served this way, but we are glad that after your request, we corrected this for you on your other nights. We are delighted you enjoyed the local food and the fabulous view.
