“Just aweful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Just going into the car park and dodging the used nappies and rubbish was just the start. We had to stay here for a week as part of a national golf championship and the hotel was shocking. Our room (212) had no lock in the balcony door leaving it open to the elements and stuffed up with toilet paper to keep out the draught. Took two days to get it sorted, corridor has a stale suck smell and the whole hotel had a damp smell prompted with air freshener. The staff were doing the best if a bad job and were very apologetic, the gutters were weed planters and our balcony flooded, there were rusty water stains in the gents toilet as well as the flush not connected. A tired hotel which I am led to believe is not actually a best western hotel but a franchise hotel, avoid at all costs.

The hotel looks tired and so now it needs a makeover. The fittings and furnishings are dated and worn. But you actually do not not mind this state of things, only, and only because of the view. Our room was on 4th floor, the view from the room as well as from the restaurant, where we had dinner in the evening was spectacular. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend the hotel and will be back.

Room Tip: Sea view room on higher floor

An awful experience
I have just stayed here for 2 nights and it was terrible.
Staff are very friendly and the food was ok but the building needs knocking down.
The hallways smell of a mix of curry, vomit and damp and the rooms appear to have been left from the 80,s.
The balcony door to our room didn't shut and this was shared with an adjoining room which had its windows smashed.
The room was very small and the bed was like sleeping on uneven bricks.
The bathroom water was filthy when I filled the bath and the room was very hot and unpleasant in the night.
Avoid at all costs.

We recently stayed at The Stade Court for short break and we were really glad that we did.The location right on the sea front was superb. The accomodation was clean and very comfortable. All the staf were very helpfull and courteous.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on each of the evenings that we stayed. The food was of a very good standard and excellent value, as was the breakfast.
All in all a very nice place to stay and good value and we will be staying again.

We stayed two nights in the Stade Court. The location on the sea front is excellent with great views over the channel. There is plenty to do in the local area and Hythe is a delightful ancient town. The hotel is very comfortable with excellent service. The restaurant is very good value with decent food. The room was clean, newly refurbished and the bathroom sparkled. Some areas of the hotel are a bit dated but at least it has some character.

My wife and I are pretty fussy about the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotels we patronize. We can live with little things in need of repair as long as the room is clean and functional. We were little reluctant about staying at the Stade Court based on some of the reviews posted in Tripadvisor, but since there was no other room available within our budget nearby and since we've never had major problems with any Best Western in Europe, we decided to give Stade Court a try. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. Our room was recently refurbished, facing the English Channel was clean, bright and functional. The Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Dinner in the restaurant was surprisingly good. especially the steak and Fish Pie. we ate there all the three nights. The food was fresh and well presented. Ok some areas showed some age, but it was good value for the price paid.

Location
Lovely - right on Hythe seafront. Close to the excellent Three Mariners pub.
Parking
Don't bother with the hotel's very cramped car park; there is plenty of free on-street parking that is much easier
Service
Very good and attentive.
Rooms
Very clean but very dated, with a forlorn chair. To avoid walking through a restaurant (which was locked in the morning), my room on the first floor was reached by going to the third floor, across and then down. Very strange. It was also incredibly hot, even with the radiator turned off and the window wide open, hence poor sleep quality grading.
Bathroom
In contrast to the bedroom, this was very modern, with a particularly good shower.
