Owner description: Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.

“Great day out”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Brilliant day out with the kids and extended family. Reasonable entry costs, with children aged 5 and under free. Took a relaxing boat ride across the lake, highly recommended. The water maze was an inventive and very fun addition to the stunning gardens. Be prepared to get wet and bring a towel and change of clothes! I managed to get lost in the yew maze which caused much hilarity among my other family members, none of whom managed to get lost! The castle although small, is stunning and it's interesting history was well told. The best thing was how much the castle and grounds cater for family's with children. My five year old and nearly 3 year old had so much fun. The adventure playground is imaginatively designed and very well maintained. There was so much for the children to do. If we lived nearer I wouldn't hesitate to get an annual membership pass, there are so many different things to do here a days visit wasn't long enough!

“Not bad”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Not a bad place to visit for the day, gardens are very good and well worth a walk round, did not try there food but had a nice cream which was nice, it's good that they let people bring there own food in but then charge for other things like the head set when you walk round the house I feel is wrong you have paid to see the castle it should be part of the price.

“Fantastic day out”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

I visited Hever Castle with my wife and 2 young sons and we had a really good day out. The castle itself is fairly small but it is beautiful and very interesting to look round. You can pretty much feel the History of the place.
The Castle grounds are huge, beatuifully kept and a lot of fun to explore. My boys loved the play ground and the water maze. Hever is well worth a visit.

“Excellent”

Spend the day here, so much to do and see! Great for kids and adults too. Good food and ice creams or take your own picnic and sit by the lake or walk round it and stop off in a peaceful glade.

“Beautiful castle”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Although the castle is pretty small inside, the site is definitely a beautiful attraction to visit. The castel in fact is surrounded by a beautiful garden and a pond. The castel is famous as Anna Bolena lived there. Together with the tour of the castle you can visit the gardens and admire the different plants and trees or rent a boat and visit the pond. In the middle of the pond they put a bell that you can reach and ring. It is definitely a nice day out.
