Owner description: Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.

Hever has always been one of my favourite places to visit, and our most recent day there did not disappoint. The gardens are immaculately kept, and the house is fascinating - made all the more so by the connections with both the 16th century Boleyns and the 19th century Astors. Parking is easy, the restaurant is good, and the gift shop is certainly a lot better than those at similar attractions.

A great day out.

I have always loved Hever Castle. Not the biggest castle but so interesting with its link to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Easy parking, plenty of places to eat and drink, beautiful grounds, stunning castle, a water maze for children (and adults!). What more could you want?

Being an avid fan of Tudor history, going for a day out here was pretty much like a dream come true for me. I was so fascinated to learn about the different stories of Tudor history and the tales of the Boleyn family and on top of this was stunned to know that a huge variety of paintings in the castle were actually painted by Hans Holbein (older and younger) so were confirmed by staff to be classical Renaissance paintings. The staff in the gift shop were also very helpful and pointed out extra places in the grounds you could get to (the lake, the Yew maze, gardens, and the Model House exhibition). Would definitely recommend coming back here again, although it would be nice if they had a discounted rate for students studying history (or students in general) as I found this INCREDIBLY relevant to the A-level history subject I'm studying at the moment. Thank you so much for a lovely day out! Such a photogenic building!!!!

A wonderful place to visit, especially for the foreign tourists, to see where Anne Boleyn first saw Henry VIII. The castle is small but beautifully preserved and the grounds are superb. The gardens were full of colour and the walks are not to be missed. I have returned here several times since my childhood and always find something new to see.
