Owner description: Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.

Took the train from London. Gardens are to die for and the castle was lovely. Took the footpath to Chiddingstone and back. Highly recommended.

My wife is an avid reader of the Tudor period. A visit to Anne Boleyn's birth place was very special. The tour of the castle was worthwhile and good value. The gardens were lovely. Cafe and shop all good. Highly Recommended.

This is a must visit garden. It is beautiful and does not disappoint in any way. I loved it. We also went in the castle which was very interesting. The tea room was lovely and had ducks and their young wandering about. I won't describe the garden, it would spoil the surprise. See for yourself.

This is a lovely castle to visit with beautiful grounds including Italian gardens and a wonderful walled rose garden. The lake is lovely with boats available to hire....to walk round the lake takes about an hour. When we visited the weather was amazing whi8ch made everything look superb, with children playing in the water maze(watch where you walk!!) and fountains in all their glory.Plenty of refreshment areas....the restaurant is lovely too with an outside area.....food excellent....freshly made sandwiches etc.
The castle itself is amazing with guides in places to answer questions....the rooms are very well set out and the exhibits are very interesting.
There are shops in which to buy souvenirs and also a garden shop near the Lavendar Loos which sell plants and many of the roses on show at reasonable prices.
Privately owned,Hever is definitely well worth a visit....not too expensive to get in and excellent value for money.
