Owner description: Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.

Reviewed December 24, 2012

At 4 in the evening the wholeplace changed, lights in trees/bushes/hedges across the road down to the castle. The castle it self was bathed in soft lighting, they were open log burners around the entrace to the castle.we took our two grandaughters to see fatherchristmas in his grotto ,he was very good played it just right. As for the castle two things stand out,in the courtyard they had snow falling and the long room upstairs was full of decorated christmas trees.we spent over 4 hrs there not bad for december in the open air.we are yearly pass holders ,we make trips throught the year.minus point restrurant near lake ,staff slow,or maybe statues comeing to life, price for a piece of carrot cake, whole one in tesco cost less

“Fantastic magical Christmas!”
Reviewed December 21, 2012 via mobile

We were very excited to be going to the Christmas evening and had booked to see Santa for my two year old son.
Unfortunately my husband was ill so I rang on the off chance they might be able to help.
Georgina from the site office was extremely helpful (as we have found previously with our annual passes) and managed to transfer us to the following day. She also managed to get us in to see the man in red which made a little boy very happy!
Many many thanks, it just reinforced our feelings toward Hever and we look forward to the upcoming events next year!

“Beautiful castle and grounds let down by rude staff”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Visited today for the 2nd time this year to attend the Christmas grotto. £60 for a family of 4 on a wet day when the water maze is closed and the adventure playground too wet to use seemed exorbitant to us. However we could justify this if the staff weren't so rude. Whilst most are merely inattentive a handful seem to try extra hard to be rude and even confrontational. We have found this on both visits this year and despite living just 2 miles away will not be coming again.

“Tranquil Hever”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Hever is beautiful at all times of the year but is especially peaceful in winter without the crowds. The garden season ticket is good value and allows you to wander round the grounds whenever you want. The Moat restaurant has excellent cakes but I hope if someone from the Castle reads this they can restore the wonderful carrot cake, the best I've ever tasted, which hasn't recently been available. The only thing out of place on our last visit was the avenue of white plastic Christmas trees beside the topiary. Perhaps these look better after dark, but during daylight they are just plain tacky.
