Description: The King Henry VIII is a truly historic English pub, from its dramatic Tudor chimney stacks to its oak beams, open fires and panelled bars, all restored using traditional Tudor craftsmanship. The current building dates from 1647 but a pub has occupied the site since 1597.Opposite the entrance to Hever Castle, where Anne Boleyn spent her early years, this half-timbered and peg-tiled pub is a real gem. In summer the beautiful beer garden and pond make visits especially memorable and the roaring fires and polished wood panelling make it a welcoming and cosy place for colder months.Customers can expect excellent food in generous portions and a wide range of ales, beers & wines.

We stayed at Hever castle bed and breakfast and booked dinner in the inn. It's a few years since we were last in the pub. I was delighted to see that it is now a Shepherd Neame establishment and was looking forward to a few pints of spitfire. There was a Christmas ale on draught and the barmaid gave me a taster, it was great and I had a few pints t hrough the evening. We had reserved a table, which was wise because although it was a Wednesday it got very busy, mainly with other guests from Hever. The food was exellent and reasonably priced and the staff were very obliging. I would definitely eat and drink here again

We were coming out of Hever Castle (Reviewed separately) and were getting hungry.
We did what one does in such cases - Asked the locals. The "Locals" in this case were the attendants at the ticket booth for Hever Castle. They both said "There" and pointed at the King Henry VIII Inn. We did as we were told and walked in.
The place was cosy and warm. There was a nice menu and some extras on the blackboard.
We started off sharing a whole baked camembert which was delicious.
We followed with one vegetarian (Sweet potato, beetroot and goat cheese) pie and one lamb and mint pie. Both were excellent.
We rounded everything up with a magnificent sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and custard - Yummmmmmy!!
All the above was accompanied by good beer.
The service was good, the prices reasonable and we left as happy customers.
Hever Castle is not at the center of the world exactly, but if you happen to visit, do the King Henry VIII as well!!!

After visiting this establishment on a number of occasions I can truly say that this pub offers 'the best English food' by a clear mile. I have had the pleasure of dining in some of londons top restaurants that display a similar menu to this, and nothing compares to the quality and quantity that this pub has to offer. From the traditional sunday roast dinners, to the amazing homemade pies, the giant burgers which are big enough to fill you for the whole day without you feeling bloated and uncomfortable, right down to the simple things like the authentic pastas and deliciously tasty salads, you're really spoilt for choice, and the best bit about it, is the reasonable price. The staff are friendly and punctual, and we only ever wait around 15 to 20 minutes between each course, enough to let your food digest and move on to the next dish. So for anyone out there that fancies ' fine dining' with an English twist for PUB prices, then make sure you visit this beautiful presented historic, fine traditional English pub, you won't be disappointed. We try to make it there at least once a month, even though it takes us an hour and half to get there............it's worth it!

This pub has struggled for a few years but has new owners now and a revamp. The garden area and outdoor seating have been beautifully upgraded and the pub is now very busy. Friday lunchtime it was heaving. The food is now excellent. There is something for everyone; fusspots, vegetarians and those looking for something more unusual! We were a group of five and had very good mushroom stroganoff, sundried tomato risotto, ham egg and chips and a warm duck salad with garlic bread and moules frites . It was all superb, plenty of it and not a single meal was over £10. Keep up the good work - this is now the best pub in the area.

Went for a late lunch today after visiting Hever Castle. There was three of us. We all had something different from the menu.
The bar and waiting staff were very professional and polite.
The food was brilliant. I had the Pork Belly. Which was a large piece of meat with mash and veg. Very tasty and excellent value for money.
The beer here(real ale) is well kept and full of flavour.
Will come back here for the beer and food and not just a visit to the castle.
Well done.
