Description: Situated on Herne Bay seafront overlooking the harbour and next to the pier, we specialise in seafood, but also have meat and vegetarian dishes available. All our dishes are cooked to order using fresh locally sourced seasonal ingredients and our menu evolves with the seasons, (it's available to view on our web site). Fully licensed; with a good selection of international and local, wines and beers. Our talented and friendly chefs are happy to cater for special dietary requirements given sufficient notice.

Petit Poission is the best restaurant in town and one I am happy to recommend. The staff are discreetly on hand, but very attentive. We went with friends and their two children - the youngest was very happy with her hand-made fish and chips, whilst the eldest one was more adventurous and had a starter of squid in a lightly fried batter. There is a good menu selection written on the chalk blackboard and I was delighted with my starter of smoked salmon with a beetroot and fromage frais dressing followed by sesame coated sea bass on a bed of noodles - absolutely delicious! One of our friends is a discerning diner and this is his second recent visit to Petit Poisson and it won't be his last! Hopefully the roof top terrace will soon be open and diners will be able to enjoy the sea view whilst dining at Petit Poisson during the summer months. We look forward to our next visit to Petit Poisson.

I would very much recommend this restaurant. The service is friendly and unobtrusive and the fish is fresh and delicious. For starters I had the potted mackerel followed by mussels in a cream sauce. Without a doubt the mussels were the largest that I have ever eaten and in fact they were so big that I could not finish the portion! With the mussels came some frites and some home make delicious mayonnaise for dipping! Desert was a fabulous cheesecake served in a very imaginative style. There was a good wine selection, particularly the British wines from a local vineyard. The rest of my family had fish dishes and the portions were huge and everything was well cooked and nicely presented. As I said in my title, if this restaurant were situated in Whitstable and not Herne Bay you would have to book weeks in advance to get in! Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

We have visited Le Petit Poisson quite a few times over the last three or so years. We have always found it excellent value. The food is on a par with the best that Whitstable and Ramsgate can offer. Herne Bay seafront may not necessarily be your first choice for a day out but put any reservations to one side and you will get consistent, good value seafood and fish served in a newly refurbished and expanded restaurant. You can even get sea views albeit of the old Pier being demolished! Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.
