The previous review is rather harsh and a little misguided. Herne Bay held its festival this week and coupled with the brilliant sunny weather, the Town was heaving with Tourists and this restaurant, along with a number of others were rushed off their feet and quite literally run out of food. We expierienced delays as well but this was not a problem to us as we like to dine at leisure and not be rushed. We both had fresh salmon with a lemon and herb crust which was cooked to perfection. The staff were very attentive and moved us to the large bay window table so that we could watch the firework display while we ate. Deserts are just Devine.

We ordered a fish board and a charcuterie board for a late lunch. It was 3.30 and there was about 4 other tables occupied. Even though it was relatively quiet the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. There were 2 girls serving who seemed to be part time students and seemed be permantely flustered. The table was dirty and we had to ask twice to have it cleaned. The black paint on the chairs was coming off and going on to our skin. They are not licensed and although we all new the weather forecast for the weekend had been excellent, they had run out of pretty much all their soft drinks. Somebody there is poor at ordering. The food when it came was a pitiful amount. Both cost £8.50 and for that we got ( fish platter) a thin strip of Mackeral, a spoonful of those tasteless frozen prawns, a small amount of hot smoked salmon, a bit of Samphire, Capers, Marie Rose sauce. (why?) and a slice of bread with no butter. The charcuterie board was ONE slice of this and that. We eat out constantly and this place misses the mark which is a shame because Herne Bay really needs an injection of good eateries .
Its not so much the price of the food although considering its the sort of place you can get an all day breakfast prices seem more on par with a good gastro pub rather than a cafe It would help if they beefed up the portions and put some descent seafood on the plate not tasteless rubbish from Bookers. You are on the coast for goodness sake - USE IT. What really let this place down was a lack of leadership. No manager was there and it felt like the kids had been left to run the show. Unless they've been professionally trained, they just can't. They need support and direction. This could be a descent place but the owner doesn't seem to be bothered. Could be good by Herne Bay standards but I fear they need a change of management first.

Lovely family friendly Restaurant on the Seafront (opposite the Pier). The owners and staff extremely welcoming. We chose to sit outside in the Courtyard Garden where we saw a lovely sunset as the night went on. We choose nachos to share as a starter which just too big a portion for us to finish. Then we had fajitas, one chicken and one beef. Absolutely scrummy. But the best was yet to come with the hot chocolate with vanilla ice cream. Words just cannot describe the melt in the mouth flavours. At present the Restaurant only opens Thursday Fridays and Saturdays and last orders are 9pm. At present they do not have an alcohol licence but personally I like the idea of bringing my own wine. Absolutely lovely experience

So impressed with this place, and what a location. Really pleased so many new Restaurants have opened up this end of the Town. Spotlessly clean, Very friendly staff/owners and super food. We ate on a Friday evening with our two kids and all enjoyed our meal. Shame we did not know they do not yet have a licence to serve alcohol as we would definately have bought our own white wine to go with our shellfish platter, which was out of thios world. But as we are going back very soon we will bring our own and look foward to sampling more of their delightful menu.

We sat outside and had sandwiches for lunch on our first visit then returned for an evening meal, when we sat in the big bay window that overlooks the seafront (and the setting sun if you're lucky!) Tomato and Basil soup starter was delicious as was the spatchcock chicken that my husband and son enjoyed for their main course, although it almost defeated them - the portions are very generous! My other son enjoyed the baked salmon main and I was absolutely delighted with my seafood platter, served on a large slate which included smoked salmon, prawns, rollmops, smoked mackerel pate and bread. We were too full for dessert but had a lovely family evening together at a leisurely pace. They don't have a licence here to serve alcohol but you can take your own bottles of wine. You might want to check ahead if you need to pay by cash - the night we went the card machine was broken so my husband had to nip out to the cash machine in the high street before we left. We look forward to our next visit.
