“Just what you need”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

This is everything you would want from a bed and breakfast. Perfect location, clean and confortable, tastefully decorated, friendly hosts and - much more importantly- a wonderful breakfast. We were there for a couple of freezingly cold days but our rooms were warm and welcoming. I also liked the showers being behind wooden doors in the room and not just a cubicle in the corner. Thoroghly recommend this as a place to stay if you are visiting Herne Bay.

Room Tip: The double room with sea views is particuarly lovely

A warm welcome from Eric on arrival. Superb accomodation, spotlessly clean, superb breakfast cooked the way you like it. Lovely, warm room, will be returning again.

The weather could have been better, hopefully will be when we go back later in the year.

Hopped in and out for a night. It's a good location right on the sea front, but:
The bed in our room overlooking the sea was like a medi-eval torture. Took me the whole of the following day to recover!
Breakfast is served 7:30 to 8:30 on the dot and you must clear out by 10. Not a minute later because poor Eric (the owner) has to do everything by himself (wash, clean, shop cook,...) while is wife does the chatting. But he chats a lot while she's speechless.
Honestly we did not like him and this doesn't help in rating the place.

I am very sorry that Charles and Elizabeth did not enjoy their stay at Evening Tide and that they thought our bed uncomfortable. Our beds are all new and we do have many compliments about the comfort and quality of sleep achieved in our beds. I can only assume that our mattress is either harder or softer than their usual. The booking was not an advance booking and was taken at the door. The room was viewed and inspected with the breakfast and departure times discussed before checking in. Although we do not want to turn people away we do want our guests to have an enjoyable visit and if these times were not acceptable maybe the room should not have been taken. On departure all seemed to be well with a chat about their plans for the day ahead. We do take our guests opinions very seriously, and while we accept that they are entitled to make comment on line if they are not satisfied we would prefer to find out before departure so we can address the situation personally and not have to do it through Tripadvisor.

We stayed for a couple of days in FEB for my 60 th birthday, We had a very warm welcome,
the room we were given was top floor family room, ( there was only the two of us ) whats more this room is brilliant, SEA VIEW lovely, very well maintained B+B clean warm and tidy, very well decorated as well.
When it comes to breakfast, well, full english, ( i mean full english ) you will not be dissapointed,
Then theres the breakfast menu, spoilt for choice, you've got, cerial, fruit juice, tea coffe, also toast marmalade/jam (choice of bread) fresh salmon! sorry can't remember it all, but i do not think you would be dissapointed with the choices you have.
The couple that run this B+B are a lovely couple, pleasant, polite, the whole place is spotless, the dinnig area is very cosy, and all the food is cooked and served pipeing hot, just how it should be.
All in all a great place to stay, we will certainly be going back, and theres plenty round about to see and do.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay for a day or two or even longer you won't go far wrong stoping here, im sure you will like it just as much as we did.
You can walk for miles here taking in the sea air, you have whitstable along the coast, reculver in the opposite direction, and there are also some nice places to eat in town in both herne bay and whitstable.
I could find not one fault with this B+B ( not that i was looking for any ) i am sure that your stay will be as pleasent as ours was.
Thankyou for having us it was a pleasure,
We will come again,
Wishing you both all the best for the future, congratulations on running such a lovely place.
Your's Mr. Leslie Crowther.

I stay in accomodation most of the year, and the Evening Tide is one of the best. The rooms are immaculate, very comfortable and warm, especially when being out in the cold all day. The owners are very welcoming and offer an outstanding breakfast to start the day. I would recommend this B&B to everybody.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

I have stayed in this bed & breakfast three times now and have never been disappointed . The rooms are very clean and well decorated , with nice little touches like chocolates in the room . The breakfast delicious and fresh and the hosts very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them . Will definitely be staying again :)

Having not stayed in a b&b for years, I was expecting the worst. I was suprised how clean and comfortable it was, nice little things like shapoo, etc were complimentary. It was very quiet, nice and warm, each room has its own bathroom. absolutely lovely. The host were such nice people. the breakfast was freshly cooked in the morning and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Especially my own family who are very fussy. ha ha. Excellent Service and Hotel. Thank you

Room Tip: They are all good rooms with their own bathroom
