“Lovely pub, nice menu, great service and atmosphere”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We were a party of 5 for dinner on Saturday night and had a wonderful meal and evening. The pub is lovely and relaxed, the service staff were friendly and regularly asked if we needed more drinks or anything and the food was wonderful (lamb shanks or seafood bake a highlight). Try the local beers and Biddenden cider. All good.

“A return visit which was a disappointment”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

We only visit Headcorn occasionally, and have been to the George and Dragon for lunch on a couple of previous occasions, last time a year or so ago when we were impressed enough to come back again. Unfortunately this time we felt that the quality and value for money was not what it had been. The last time we visited was also on a Saturday, and the pub was extremely busy, this time there were relatively few customers. Service was a bit hit and miss, and it was hard to make ourselves understood. The kitchen asked if I really wanted peas with my ploughmans, but it seems as if being polite and saying please after my order, was written down as peas! Nine pounds for a ploughmans is fine if everything is really good, but we all could have done without the portions of industrial coleslaw served with each order, and it seems a pity that carrots and cabbages should be harvested in vain in order to be returned to compost without ever having been ingested. The pickle was however homemade and good, as was the ham. A cheese and bacon toasty included the end of the loaf, was soggy and the bacon was chewy and undercooked with a fatty rind. Overall just an average pub meal, and not anything to write home about.

“Nice pub -- pity about the staff”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Poped into this pub restaurant on a perfect summer evening after a balloon trip at headcorn aerodrome -- well presented property and the food we had was good but oh dear the staff were so miserable and to get some condiments or mustards was like drawing teeth . This is so often a let down in Britain - thats why we employ so many foreigners.

“Service could be better”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

Ate there today early afternoon, seating is arranged in different areas with just a handfull of tables in each, so was quite cosy. There is lots of seating in the very pretty garden and overall the ambience was good, as was the decor.

We were quickly seated, the staff were friendly, ensured we had menus, which we thought were very good pub grub, with a choice of fish, meat, salads etc. We were in a small area with two other small groups of diners who were already eating and after considerable time we were forced to search for service. Our order was eventually taken and drinks arrived shortly followed by our food order.

The food was excellent, we had slow cooked belly pork and steak and kidney pudding both served with generous portions of fresh vegetables and could not fault either. Desserts were equally as good. This was our 1st visit and we will definately visit again but considering the pub was fairly quite, the service was a bit disorganised, not sure how they would cope in busy periods.
