Just been to watch Skyfall at this wonderful cinema. Great seats, 35mm, good sound and brilliant atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and we're definitely going here before Cineworld again.

A superb one-screen theatre right in the town centre. The exterior is Tudorbethan but it is the interior that is the real gem - a decor akin to something from the "golden age" of cinema. Staff were wearing retro uniforms which added to the classic feel. Was excellent value at £5 per ticket. The steps up appear in the middle of the seating area, so unsually it is split into distinct front and rear sections with quite a gap in between. No seat allocation, so able to try out a couple of different places - some at the front of the rear section had a railing partially in the way. Sound was not the greatest, but the screen is large. A wonderful nostalgic experience!

One screen Large Screen, Plenty of Leg Room, Good Acoustics, Amazing Art Deco Features, Good Service and Friendly Staff. The seats are comfortable, and the toilets are adequate. ok, you may have to wait a while for the latest blockbuster, but its well worth it! Go on, use a proper local, independent good value Cinema, Use The Royal!

this cinema has retained many of it's original features which I remember from visiting as a child and unlike many even though it was converted to a bingo hall for a while it has not succumbed to the split it into two (or more) screens that many where in the 70's and 80's so you get an excellent large screen with comfortable seating. The Popcorn and beverages are reasonably priced and the ticket price was cheap, in fact i think it was the same in September 2012 as it was in 1980!
If you want to experience cinema visit this place!
the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
