Owner description: Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

Visited the brewery recently for a tour, evening meal and accompanying beers. The staff were informal, informative and very helpful. The tour was interesting and well done. The meal was served in an exceptionally attractive dining room. The food and beers were high quality. Well worth a visit if you are in Kent. Highly recommended.

The brewery tour was exceedingly interesting and informative. As perhaps the oldest brewery in the country it is good to see that the old brewing traditions are still upheld using good British ingredients for the ales. The tasting session afterwards is a test of your beer knowledge and contains some surprises. As someone who last tasted Shepherd Neame back in the long hot summer in the seventies in a club who did not have the facilities to store the beer properly, I was put off it until now, what a waste time

We have been on several brewery tours, all have been interesting and enjoyable.
Im a very positive person so find that being brutally honest with you somewhat uncomfortable, but felt that you would appreciate the honesty.
Having travelled a great distance was disappointed to find that this tour was unfortunately not very good, impart due to staff using a scripted ,rushed timetable ,the headphones were over the top ,all of which didn't give the feel other breweries are much better at doing. The staff were young and although did there job well (to your specifications,) felt like all you were concerned about was making money and not giving visitors a feeling that they mattered .The main problem being too commercialized .As for the quiz at the end that was awful
Your "guests" should feel that they matter .Standing at the bar tasting different beers (not pushing lagers onto people) as indeed other breweries do would give people a chance to mingle and discuss the different beers instead of a the feel of a seedy pub's quiz night or sad holiday camp
Why no gift shop on the premises? you are missing a huge revenue opportunity
On a positive note we did enjoy several beers whilst in the area.
