Attraction details
Owner description: Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

“Boring.. and very corporate”
Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

If you want to go through a slow paced talk, boring videos of the CEO talking about his families ownership of the brewery and tired jokes by the tour operator then this is for you. Really didn't enjoy it. Also, no drinking til the very end - where you get 6 shots of beer. Then you have to pay for extras.

“£4 a pint???????”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I enjoyed the trip on the whole the staff where very good but I thought that the brewery itself looked on it as a revenue opportunity rather than a opportunity to promote there beer The price of a pint was £4 Overpriced when you could get a pint in the pub around the corner for £2.50 even Sheppard and Neame beer ???
The meal was okay allow not a lot of it it all helps to soak up some of the beer

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you are into beer and want to know how its produced commercially and the history of the brewery then the visitor centre and tour is well worth a visit. Also visit the Faversham hop festival at the end of August for a great day out.

“good beer with knowledgeable friendly staff”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

My son booked a tour with 3 course lunch for his father for a Father's day treat. it was a great tour lasting about 1hour 30 mins. Long enough to really get a feel for the brewery. We then had a 3 course lunch a roast with all the trimmings fantastic food, service and of course beer. Would go back just for the food ! lovely thanks
