“Nice but Noisy”
Reviewed October 12, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Booked this accommodation up for two nights for my wife and our 4 year old to be near Hever Castle as I had a Triathlon there early on the Sunday morning.

Lovely accommodation, very spacious and very well kept – just what we were looking for. However….all was good until we went to bed, when the silence of the countryside was broken by the constant noise of cars driving past at a fair lick, accentuated by the cars accelerating up the hill . We are fairly used to cars driving past our house at night as we live on a through road but this was so noisy that it kept myself and my wife from having two good night’s sleep. Not the best just before a race! Such as shame as it is a very nice place and the owners are very nice & welcoming.

“Very comforable and convenient”
Reviewed July 6, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed at this self-contained studio apartment above a large garage on a private property in mid-June 2015 on a Friday and Saturday night. While what was advised as a Sat-Nav postcode reference was provided and the location as opposite another major farm house that is indicated on a google map, amazingly we did manage to botch the finding of this site. Perhaps it was just our state of mind but on reflection, if you are travelling along the B2026 (Hartfield Rd) having turned off from the A264 onto the B2026 then the signs indicating the major farm house referred to in the instructions provided (which is quite large and clearly visible from the road) and to which Little Saxbys with its own sign is opposite, are both facing a direction to be read from the approach as if you were travelling south down the B2026 from Cowden crossroads, the opposite direction to the northerly approach coming from A264. Hence, the weary traveller can miss the obvious and you should trust the postcode provided and a Google map with this code inserted for location will reliably indicate that position. On the maps it looks relatively isolated so in hindsight I would have asked Louise the owner to email a sketch map before leaving on holiday. If you are not familiar with it, when searching for the site along the B2026 exercise some caution on the road as local vehicles move along at a fare pace.

Having found the apartment which is inside a property with an electronically operated gate we were warmly greeted by the owner Louise who pointed out the features of the apartment and gave useful local advice and an access control to the gate to let ourselves in and out. The A frame of the roof provided the framework for the studio which had a separate bedroom from the lounge and kitchenette. The bathroom had a bath with shower-fitting and kitchenette (toaster & tea-making facilities, fridge, good hotplate & convection microwave) had all you needed for meal preparation for a short-term stay as well as a front-loader clothes washer with a spin dryer cycle, particularly useful for the international traveller. The fittings and furnishings all provide a high level of presentation and make for a most comfortable stay. Wifi was effective. There was ample local tourist information available and instructions to equipment were available with exception of the clothes washer, but with WiFi you can download the manuals for the model to decipher those cryptic symbols on the dials. A particularly nice gesture was the milk, juice and bottle of wine waiting in the fridge upon our arrival. Hever Castle and Gardens are not far away and well worth visiting, as is Royal Tunbridge Wells and there are some nice drives in the country-side. You are also in proximity to Gatwick Airport where we dropped off the hire car and took the bus to London for the remainder of the trip. So in all I would recommend this as a very comfortable and convenient accommodation option for the area.

“A cosy,attractive home from home.”
Reviewed March 16, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

After a long, tiring flight from Australia, Little Saxby's apartment was an attractive ,welcoming and cosy place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Kent countryside. It is very well fitted out with all up to date amenities and spotlessly clean. We spent a week there and found it to be centrally located to many historic properties. With Cowden station very close we were able to enjoy a day in London which is just 50 minutes away by train. Louise, the owner ,who lives on site, is a very helpful host and she does not invade privacy. In all we highly recommend this property.
