Recommended by our B & B owner we went to book. Not open at the time so hurriedly took the phone number...a passing local simply offered the comment "lovely food there, you can't go wrong". How right she was, great service from the table staff and owner. Superb, well presented food. All made even more enjoyable by well judged conversation from the host....just enough, witty and not intrusive. We're going back.

This was our second visit to this fantastic restaurant in Deal.
The food was beautiful and freshly prepared, we both had Beef Wellington for our main course, and it was perfectly cooked. We were sat near the kitchen so we could see the food being prepared for service, which my husband enjoyed as it's given him a few ideas. The service was very good, and for a Monday night it was busy, which was good to see. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious and nicely decorated.

We won't hesitate to return in the future!

I was really looking forward to a romantic dinner date , unfortunately beach street lost the whole meaning of the evening. Loud pop music ,bright lights , not a rose or a candle in sight , we were seated next to a vase of dead daffodils , the set menu was very poor , warm sorbet was a first for me !,, somewhere else next year

We had a family lunch and tried the 2-course menu at £15.95. Both the beef and chicken were excellent with plenty of vegetables and roast potatoes. The general consensus was favourable. I had a carafe of a pleasant Argentinian Malbec at £9.30. Desserts were good and varied including trifle, panna cotta and pear poached in red wine with mascarpone. The ambience was nice and the young staff very attentive. A lunch to be recommended.

Thought 81 had lost it's edge last time we came, but had such a great meal there this time.

It was early evening in February, with the sea kicking up outside, and when we arrived we were the only diners ( picked up later).

Started off with homemade ( excellent) bread with olives. Really outstanding curried parsnip soup ( suited the weather) followed by the best steak in years. My wife went for her usual "two-starters-instead-of-a-main", and had a roquefort and fig pate ( "delicious" apparently), and then crab cakes.

Couple of glasses of a good Malbec went well with it. Service friendly and efficient

Only niggle was we booked online having been emailed with a February offer of two courses for two people for £25, ( with supplements for steaks), and when the bill came there was no mention of the offer, which based on what we had, would have saved us about £8, but I didn't spot this until after we left, and wasn't about to brave the elements a second time.

Never mind, still one of the best meals so far this year.

Thank you for taking time to review your dining experience you had with us on Tripadvisor.

I'm glad you had such a great meal this time.
With regards to the slight hiccup with the bill, I am disappointed that it was not checked prior to you receiving it.

When you next book with us please let me know and I will ensure this error is taken care of and that you are well looked after.

Kind regards
Charlotte
