My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary in this delightful restaurant. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We will certainly return.

My wife and I enjoyed another superb lunch today at Apicius, with terrific flavours and textures expertly and thoughtfully put together.
It's great to have a restaurant fairly local to ourselves which is always reliably great!
Service is good humoured and spot-on.

This was one of the most enjoyable evenings I have had in a long time. The restaurant is set in a small shop front which doesn't sound great but which has been turned into a delightful intimate dining space. The tables are far enough apart to allow privacy though. We were a party of four celebrating our husbands 50th birthdays and we could not have asked for a better way to do it. The staff are wonderfully friendly and funny without being too in your face. One of our party is lactose intolerant and we informed them ahead of time. They went out of their way to ensure that he was aware of those things which he should avoid and were co-operative about making tweaks to what was served. Overall the food was delicious, as you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. Every course was just enough without being too filling, and each was seasoned and combined to produce a wonderful treat for the tongue. The wine list was diverse enough and of superb quality. The desert wines were also delicious. I would go back in a heartbeat and indeed heard other diners booking in as soon as they had paid their bill. Overall I can't praise it highly enough, a gourmet experience with none of the stuffed shirt attitude I have experienced elsewhere. Just a really great knowledge of which foods and wines go well together, and how to make their diners feel welcome and special. Thank you very much.

It was rather quiet when we arrived - slightly stilted, even, and that didn't fill me with confidence. We were quite early, however, and as the restaurant filled up it felt much more relaxed. The waiting staff were charming and friendly, which was a little surprising given the very high standard of cooking the Apicius offers. If this was in London, the waitresses would be snooty, but here they're not.
The cooking was exemplary - very fresh ingredients, put together with imagination and real, professional care. Everything has been thought about and presented properly - including the bread, the butter, the water - the whole event from aperitif to coffee was a delight.
It's not cheap, but it is very good value. Eat there and, if you appreciate top class cooking, you won't be disappointed.

my husband booked apicius as a surprise for our first wedding anniversary and we were wowed from the start!! we were greeted by the very friendly owner and showed straight to our table where we were pre sented for a celebratory glass of prosecco. the food was fantastic and cooked to perfection. we especially loved the owner talking to us about our wedding and taking an interest in us. the gentleman waiter was also very efficient. overall we had a super evening, excellent value for money. the only thing that would have been nice is a little background music. thank you and cant wait to go back!
