We managed to get a late table and had one of the best meals we have had in a long time. This was inventive faultless cooking at very reasonable prices. Front of house is quirky but friendly and she spotted that we were getting a little restive that our main was a bit slow in coming. The starters a crab pannacotta & cod brandade were lovely, and the mains (partridge & pork) beautifully balanced. The pork crackling was something else. Puddings were good, I had poached pear with a sensational stilton ice cream & my husband said that his lemon frangipane desert was one of the best he had ever had. The wine by the glass was very good quality, overall highly recommend & we will be back.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary over dinner here. It is a Michelin starred restaurant so our expectations were high. After a warm and friendly welcome we enjoyed a glass of good champagne as an aperitif, then a three course dinner, expertly delivered to our table. The location of the restaurant is a bit unpromising but, once inside, the ambience is fine. The evening we were there, all the tables were occupied by couples and that seems to be the norm. It is not a place for large parties. We enjoyed the ongoing discussions with the two ladies serving us, having fun asking about ingredients and flavours and the chef's secrets. The wine list is reasonably spread in price. We would certainly recommend for a special occasion and booking is a must.

The most consistently brilliant cooking in Kent.
Clean, crisp flavours, top ingredients.
Can be a little austerely quiet, and front of house is rather quirky, but always friendly.
Highly recommended. I've forgotten how many times I've visited now, and it's always great.

This was the first visit to a michelin starred restaurant and it surpassed all expectations , the food was exquisite , the service attentive but not overpowering and very reasonable priced. The restaurant is small just 8 tables , there is no background music the whole focus is on the food a truely memborable experience.
