The rooms we used were mostly in the old part of the building so were steeped in history and intrigue, but were very comfortable nonetheless. We reserved the Cranbrook Room for our private family party and bar staff were attentive, but not intrusive. An excellent dinner was served by a delightful little waitress in a pleasantly decorated room, although note that vegetables do not come automatically with main meals and have to be ordered seperately, but nobody went hungry.
If there was a drop in standards it was at breakfast when the girls could have been a little more attentive to our needs, but overall it was a lovely weekend. Although it is not the cheapest on our experience we would certainly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately eating at The George in Cranbrook is just not good enough. The food is decidedly average and the service is at times laughably slack. We live locally so for want of anywhere else we come here once in a while. We always hope it will have improved and justify the quite steep prices but I'd say that 2 out of 3 times it is just not acceptable. I mean, what self-respecting restaurant can't cook a steak to your requirements and why is the squid portion so mean - it's not as if squid is expensive?

Thankfully another pub/restaurant has just reopened nearby in Sissinghurst and I sincerely hope it'll be better than The George.

We booked the best part of the whole restaurant for a family birthday celebration, whilst it was a bit of a squeeze to get all 28 of us in, the tables were laid beautifully and the ambience was lovely. We pre-ordered our food a week in advance, everything came out spot on and the food was superb, although a bit slow to start with. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Would deffinately recommend.

Food and service were superb! Got back for Sunday roast. As the restaurant is popular it tends to get very busy for dinner, so book in advance.
