We had a fantastic Easter break at Woodland Cottage. The cottage is just lovely and very well equipped. We loved the beautiful gardens and were lucky enough to see a wide variety of wildlife through the windows - in particular a red squirrel which was a joy to see. We used the cottage as a base from which to explore the Isle of Wight and visit family. A short walk along the coastline took us to Yarmouth where we enjoyed a riotous evening with good food and live music at Salty's, and the friendly bar staff at The King's Head were happy for us to try several of their extensive range of gins. Quieter evenings were spent in front of the log burner just chatting and gazing out to sea - perfect!
This cottage has everything you could possibly need. Warm, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Thoroughly recommend.
Lovely house in a great spot, with views of the sea. The downstairs is so open and bright. You can walk along the coast path into Yarmouth which is lovely. The family enjoyed watching the rabbits and red squirrel in the garden.
We booked the cottage to spend half term and Halloween with our children and grandchildren, it's a lovely cottage with all the amenities you could ask for, the weather was kind to us and the children spent most of the time outdoors, the garden being ideal for hiding Halloween treats!
Very well designed and equipped house, right by dog friendly beaches and woodland. Plenty to do nearby and across the Island and nice quiet time to visit.
The location is within easy walking distance of yarmouth with numerous excellent restaurants for the evening. The views over the solent from the bedroom veranda are spectacular. The house is very tastefully modernised and has all mod cons. You have large wooded garden which is great for a barbecue of just chilling. If we go back to the island we would look to book this house as our first choice.
We stayed at Woodland Cottage for a week with our two children. To be honest, I was slightly reluctant to write this review, because it is such a gem that I don't want other people to find out about it! The cottage is very convenient for Yarmouth (5 mins drive or a short walk along the coastal path) and for some fabulous beaches along the western coast of the island. The cottage itself is spacious and light, with a great kitchen/dining area, four bedrooms (one downstairs with bunk beds) and a lovely garden, part woodland and part lawn (some steep steps, so little ones may need watching, although our toddler managed fine). There is also a fantastic decked area off the master bedroom with sea views. The cottage is stylishly furnished and well equipped and has some really nice homely touches, such as a good selection of books and a desktop computer for guests to use, but importantly doesn't feel like it's cluttered with someone else's possessions. The owners' parents live nearby and were incredibly helpful, supplying us with barbecue tools and a picnic table for the kids and providing lovely flower arrangements in the house. All the attractions of the Island are very accessible from the house. We all had a terrific time and will be returning with friends later in the year.
