We have just got back from the West Bay Club. The accommodation was very Clean & contemporary & boasted good quality appliances, fittings etc. We are a family of 5, youngest being 2.5yrs old, The Cottage 'Piedmont 1' was reasonably toddler proof although we found the doors quite annoying as they do not stay open with out some form of doorstop in place. The beds I think let the cottage down as the main bedroom one was awful, so bumpy & hard & with a Husband with a bad back it wasn't great!! The pillows also need replacing so I would recommend you take your own. The staff were very friendly & welcoming & would rate the customer care 10/10. The Pool looked lovely although we didn't use it as it always seemed chocker!! The Other facilities also I felt were a weak point of The West Bay Club... The Games room was, well rubbish if I am honest, it was old, dirty & only held 2 pool tables & 3/4 table tennis tables with 2 rackets & 1 ball!!! We ate lunch in the restaurant one day, the food was very nice but £45 was a bit extreme!! Also the shop could be better, yes it held the bare essentials but really that was it! All my niggles are just that niggles, they wouldn't put me off going again but I think it has room for improvement.

This was our second stay at the West Bay Club and it was as good as we remember – peaceful, relaxed, perfect for families and very well thought out. We plan to return at the end of the summer 2013.

The staff are all attentive, friendly and pleased to help at every turn. We are two adults and two children aged six and three. The children love the shallow splash pool outside the indoor pool which is located just outside the cottage we stayed in this time (‘Delaware’ cottage number eight) and also a playground nearby. There is a gym, sports hall and spa in the country club which uses ESPA products and I had the second best facial I’ve had in my life (with Kristin).

The accommodation is fresh, modern and airy. The bedrooms are particularly good in terms of nice furniture (oak), space and natural light, although I wish I’d brought my laytex pillow from home and the bed was a double rather than the king we are used to at home. There is a low footboard on the bed which meant my husband felt a little cramped (he is 6 foot tall). The bedrooms all have velux windows with blinds which block out the majority of light. All the cottages are done to the same standard with the same styling so there’s nothing to set them apart, except for personal preference on proximity to the main facilities. It’s a small site so you’re not far from anything and it’s not the sort of place that has garish entertainment, amusements or anything like that so there’s no drawback from being close to the country club (i.e. you’re not exposed to noise at night).

We ate out for every meal including a good meal at the country club on site (steak night on the Friday) except for one night when we bought some delicious frozen home made meals from the deli in Yarmouth (called ‘Deli’) in the centre of town and heated them in the cottage.

We’ve found the west of the island a lovely spot – it’s far more natural, peaceful and scenic than the more built up and slightly down at heel resorts in the east. It’s a quick and easy crossing from Lymington to Yarmouth and the West Bay Club is literally two minutes up the road in the car from the ferry port. Bookings at the WBC usually include a ferry crossing as part of the price.

If you’re into horse riding there’s a super stable just a minute up the road by car (we had to use the car as the footpath runs out half way up the road and weren’t prepared to have the children walking on the main road as they are too young) that has high quality horses and excellent instruction from Jane (one of the owners). My son and I did an hour’s lesson and had a better lesson than we’ve experienced at other stables back at home.

Room Tip: We've stayed in both the Vermont cottages and the Delaware style cottages and both were the same...

This was our first stay at The West Bay Holiday Club and it won't be the last, the cottages were spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. The pool was lovely and never packed, the grounds were well maintained with plenty of space for children to play. We had a fantastis holiday and would definately recommend a visit.

What a brilliant stay we had at the West bay club. We went as a family with our 2 boys aged 5 and 3. The facilities are fantastic and we could not fault the accommodation. We stayed in a 2 Bed Delaware which was spotless. The boys just loved the little touches such as the games and jigsaws on the shelves for them to play with. With a big green space outside we were able to give our 2 a little bit of freedom knowing they could get into any trouble!!! The country club and its facilities were fantastic as were the staff and in particular Stan who my 2 both adored. There were countless activities for both boys to join in with such as trampolining, tae kwon do, football, tennis, table tennis, rounder’s, cricket, the list is endless. I have to also give a special mention to Tanya who is the swimming instructor. She gave my 5 year old private swimming lessons all week and i was amazed at what she did with him over the 5 days, she is amazing and I wanted to take her home.

All this before we even get out exploring the Isle of Wight. It’s just a fabulous place to stay with young children. There is so much to see and do, and in particular we enjoyed crabbing in Yarmouth, Black Gang Chine and the Fireworks, Colemans Farm and Robin Hill.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the West Bay to anyone, and rest assured we will be back for many years to come!!

This was our first visit to West Bay but our third to the Island and we are so glad to find such brilliant accommodation at last. Well kept, clean and tidy with every item you need included. We went with our two children who are 3 and 6 and they absolutely loved the outdoor toddler pool which they insisted on visiting every day. We had a week of fab weather so we didn't get the chance to use the other facilities as much as we would have liked. So lovely to have everything you need thought of and we will definately be back next year.

What a great place! This was recommended by another Islander and I'm so glad we took their advice. We stayed in one of the Delaware cottages which was extremely clean and ideal for a young family (downstairs loo, lots of space). The patio doors looked out onto the decking area and further green area which the kids could scoot and cycle around safely.

The country club, which our accomodation was very close to included an indoor pool and splash/toddler pool which we made a lot of use of. Again this was well presented and very clean. We didn't use the Brassiere but it looked a good alternative to cooking for one night!

We will definitely be going back next year when we will try out some of the activities (we didn't get a chance this holiday as the weather was so good). Another reviewer described West Bay as a smaller and less expensive alternative to centre parcs....I couldn't agree more!

My only comment would be that we would also have loved a king size bed in our cottage, it just makes it that little bit more luxurious.

I am pretty fussy when booking our holidays in England and there are so many so called "luxury" accommodations which do not live up to this title. I have to tick alot of boxes for our break, one of them is a decent gym for my partner. Also an indoor and outdoor pool is always a bonus. So when I found West Bay club, it certainly ticked all of those boxes. Its just a lovely place to stay, plenty to do, lovely indoor pool and a great outdoor toddlers pool. We were lucky we had a glorious week of sunshine. Our two bed Delaware cottagewas absolutely lovely, clean, modern with a real seaside feel and had everything we needed. As these houses are owned and rented out, there were lots of childrens games to play with. Everything was thought of, iron, ironing board, washing airer etc. I could not fault the club, everyone is so friendly, its great for young families and no-one looks down their noses as you because you have young children. There is also a lovely brasserie that you can order take away food from. The location is perfect for Isle of Wight and the town of Yarmouth is absolutely lovely, so pretty and quaint. We will certainly be going back next year, it was excellent and totally stress free!
