Room 14 - sleeping on a rollarcoster - beds up to corridor wall which physically move up and down every time anyone walks past. Previous guests old snotty tissue in bed side drawers. A loo that doesn't flush. A bathroom door that you cannot open once inside. Awful.

Breakfast - terrible. Like a poor B&B. No buffet presentation. No orange juice. Cooked breakfast disgusting apart from the eggs. Service appalling, not due to the two young people but simply due to the set up. You have to ask for everything, even sugar for you cereal, so they had to go back to the kitchen every time, and as multi tasking was not their skill this meant they were constantly in the kitchen. Both mornings, I sat there which eight uncleared tables around me for nearly an hour, there were only four tables with people on them so it wasn't busy. Very very very poor indeed. Needs serious management. Will never ever stay again and I have family in Yarmouth so let's just call it 'the ripple effect'.

I love this hotel and stay in it on all visits to the Island. It's location next to the lovely Yarmouth harbour, with gorgeous views from the restaurant and gardens across the Solent towards Lymington. Genuine character which includes a room that King Charles II slept in, wonky floors and staircases. Fantastic restaurant with great use of local produce. Great breakfast. Only downside is lack of decent wi-fi but apparently they are working on improving this. Give it a go, you'll not be disappointed.

Just right, we spent an overnight stay in February for a friends birthday, the rooms were really nice for the tariff we paid, and the staff welcoming, The general feel of the place was relaxed and we felt at home. The food in the restaurant was excellent, top class!! but we paid for it, above average restaurant prices, the wine choice however was very reasonable which compensated.
An older hotel, so the plumbing was a little temperamental on the hot water, but not enough to detract from a pleasant stay, bed really comfortable, would go back defiantly!

We booked this hotel as it came up as no2 romantic hotel in the IoW.
We weren't disappointed
Lovely, lovely hotel with lots of little details
Our room overlooked castle, pier and sea- beautiful (no 26)
Not huge but lovely quirky step up then down into lovely ensuite
Fantastic breakfast- help yourself cereal/fruit/yogurt/juices then choice of lots of different items- full English (lovely and beautifully presented) kippers (delicious) locally milled porridge (so nice) etc etc
Lovely little touches- beautiful flowers in hallways - a super hotel
Didn't eat dinner there but lovely restaurants nearby - Bugle inn and vacancies rock 'on the rocks' (cheaper and we felt a better selection)
Service was really friendly and personal- turn down at night etc
A 5* service with family feel
Parking was in pay and display but free on Sunday in square
Lovely location- we didn't hear ferry noise apart from briefly one eve and it wasn't loud
Highly recommend

Just returned from a couple of days in Yarmouth, IoW. Stayed at The George. This hotel is a great place to relax and enjoy good food. Breakfast & dinner was taken in the restaurant which overlooks the solent. Many thanks to the restaurant waiting staff and Michael in the Bar. In addition to the main menu there is also a bar Menu.
Our room was well appointed with TV, iron, hair dryer and kettle for tea, coffee, & hot chocolate. Also Bottled water in the room.Toiletries in the bathroom included a sewing kit. Fresh fruit was provided in a basket outside the room.We were most impressed with all of the staff who were excellent. The hotel is a very short walk from the Ferry. We took our car and found 24 hour parking 5 mins away at the River Road Long Stay Car Park. £6.60 for 24 hours There is limited parking outside the hotel with a max stay of 2 hours. At the time of writing (Feb 2014) Parking charges apply between 10am till 6pm so you could probably park there overnight.
