This small castle, almost hidden by surrounding buildings on the landward side, guards the entrance of Yarmouth harbour.Built in the sixteenth century,it contained the most modern defensive innovations in the country and is therefore of historic importance.
The castle displays an interesting exhibition of its own history and of the people associated with its operation, and has several well maintained rooms showing how it's inhabitants lived.
Although perhaps of most interest to castle enthusiasts, the battery platform offers splendid views over the Solent and is an ideal site for watching arrivals and departures of ferries & boats from the harbour.
