“A castle of especial interest”
Review of Yarmouth Castle

Yarmouth Castle
Ranked #4 of 15 things to do in Yarmouth
Attraction details
Reviewed October 22, 2013

This small castle, almost hidden by surrounding buildings on the landward side, guards the entrance of Yarmouth harbour.Built in the sixteenth century,it contained the most modern defensive innovations in the country and is therefore of historic importance.
The castle displays an interesting exhibition of its own history and of the people associated with its operation, and has several well maintained rooms showing how it's inhabitants lived.
Although perhaps of most interest to castle enthusiasts, the battery platform offers splendid views over the Solent and is an ideal site for watching arrivals and departures of ferries & boats from the harbour.

This is a small but interesting casle hidden away in the centre of Yarmouth. Nice views across the Solent from the outside area and a most interesting set of display panels in the interior. Could be better signposted, the one opposite the town car park appears to indicate the the castle is further on. Still an interesting hour spent here.

Very little to see and obnoxious service although the location overlooking the Solent is excellent. Yarmouth itself is well worth visiting

Probably one of the smallest castles one will ever visit! Not bad for half an hour or so and there are some nice views across the Solent but the castle in truth is something of nothing.

Having read a lot of good reviews on here, we decided to visit this castle on our last day in Isle of Wight. We ended up a bit disappointed as this place was so small and there was nothing to do there. We spent about 30 mins there then just left to the ferry. Not too bad for the price though (£4 each for adult)
