“A little piece of paradise”
Reviewed July 20, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

A lovely apartment for a a family holiday. The setting is perfect just yards from the sea with views to die for. If you get the weather I can't think of anywhere better in Britain. And the sunset? Wow. If I'm being picky the outside could do with a bit of tarting up, but you probably won't notice.

On first impressions the property when entering through back entrance looked worn there was puddles from a leek to climb over and the pavement was all cracked and uneven the enclosed back garden was not very pleasing on the eye and had a wooden create and wood left so could not let the younger children run around, the summer house next to the house would not open due to rusty lock. The property is very spacious and the view of the sea is outstanding. the inside of the property was nicely decorated but was very dusty and one of the carpets had not been hovered and had hairs on it They main worry was the electrics the light switches buzzed and the cooker switch went off for a couple of days although the owner did send someone round when told of this problem the lights in purple bedroom would sometimes not work or flicker and the switch in kitchen flashed sometimes when being turned on. I have been coming to the isle of Wight for over six years staying in a number of properties that have been above expectations I am sorry to stay this would not be one of them

Management Response
Aug 7, 2014
We are very disappointed that these guests were not happy at the Beach House. It is really important to us that all our guests enjoy their holiday in our apartment.

In response to their comments:

The house sits at the bottom of the cliff; with excessive rainfall such as we experienced during the winter and spring it is very difficult to prevent cliff water from escaping its normal channels of drainage.

The back of the house is not intended to be a garden for children to play in; it consists of a retaining wall against the cliff, with outhouses in front where the dustbins and equipment are kept.

The lock has been changed on the beach hut.

There is an electrical certificate for the property within guidelines for rented accommodation. The flickering is from dimmer switches, but they are safe and certified.

Regarding the cleanliness of the apartment, we use the most highly respected and recommended firm on the island. Cleanliness is something that is very important to us as hosts, which is why we use this firm and endorse their work fully, however we have passed this complaint on to them.

It must be pointed out that these guests are the first ever people who have stayed in one of our apartments and had their deposit retained because of the dirty condition that it was left in.

We do take on board any constructive feedback that we receive and endeavour to make improvements in order to enhance the experience for future guests at the Beach House.
