“Pity we didn't sleep well”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

Hotel was located in ideal position for us in the centre of Ryde, Isle of Wight. When we checked-in we were informed we would not be sleeping at the main hotel but an annexe across the road from the hotel.

We made our way across and found the room (51) was large with bathroom (shower) and a seperate room with a kichen in.

Our only complaint was that the bed was awful. As soon as I laid down on it I could tell the springs had gone and we would be looking forward to a night of us both rolling down into the middle. We both did not have a good nights sleep (we reported this fault to the Receptionist in the morning).

Breakfast was great, cerals, fruits, juices, pastries and bacon, egg, sausages etc.

Please hotel manager's note that your guests need a good nights sleep!

We had one night here recently as we fancied a weekend trip to the Isle of Wight. The hotel is a short walk from the hovercraft and station in Ryde. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and had a very pleasant stay here. We were in the Bromley House annex as we wanted a smoking room. It is only across the road from the main hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable and had plenty of space. It even looked out over the Solent. The hotel is generous with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. We both slept well. there was a bit of noise from somewhere down the road but it was not too bad as we were towards the back of the annex and it was no fault of the hotel in any case. Breakfast was very nice. there was a good choice of cereal, bread and fruit juice. The cooked breakfast was large and satisfying,in fact we could hardly finish it,as we were full!
All in all We found it good value for the money and would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Do ask if you want a smoking room as they have a few. Don't be put off if you are in the annex,i...

We stopped by Yelf's for lunch yesterday, found it to be very good value, very tasty and good quality, and received excellent service. Steak & chips followed by chocolate mousse, all for just £9.95. I would highly recommend this venue.

My husband and I have just got back from a lovely stay at Yelf's Hotel and the lovely surroundings of the Ryde and the Island. The hotel is regarded by folk we met as best in Ryde so that says a lot for it i would say. Very pleasant staff and nice neat room, perhaps a little updating needed but lovely furniture, we were in room 8 and this was at the front which is perhaps a little noisey on a fri and sat night and this was low season so not sure if worse in peak but room is very well catered for, clean everything, if needed each day and lots of complimenary coffee, biscuits etc. Hot water and shower very good. We only had breakfast and this was very good and plenty of everything with staff asking if you needed more and were ok. Now we have got to know this hotel, we will come again and try the spa that is on offer and also maybe ask for a room towards back with a better view but we really cant complain at all and quite honestly cant wait to go back to Ryde and next time we will hire a car although we managed to see most of the Island on the very friendly buses and trains. What a nice place to visit where people actually say hello to you, we are from London and this was quite an eyeopening. would recommend this to anyone who wanted to stay at a trustworthy hotel.

Room Tip: as we stated in the last bit, ask the staff and i am sure they will help you re the rooms

We stayed here for 1 night, and considering it was the cheapest I could find in the area it was a great place. Rooms are very tidy and decent size. Staff were all lovely and there is a security guard there at night. Breakfast was nice with a good selection. For the price you pay, I can't fault. Only thing is if you have mobility issues, there isn't a lift.

Stayed at this hotel last night and it was the best place I've stayed at on the island! I have been coming over once a month for the last 2 years. Friendly staff, good ambience. Stayed in room 27 which had a 4 poster bed and a bigger than usual TV only down side was it was a bit dark in the room.

Overall though I will be coming back!

We have just had a one night stay at Yelfs we booked through Expedia it was £15 cheaper and included breakfast which was excellent. As we were only there one night we didnt meet many staff but the ones we met helpful and very pleasent .Bedroom good although hot water very hot. A bonus was the free car park. A very good stay.
