“Amazing food, great value and amazingly friendly staff”

Having just come home from a meal at The Fishbourne Inn I just had to let everyone know how fantastic it is. The food was amazing tasty and wholesome, good size portions (best sticky toffee anywhere) the price was amazing on the 2 for 1 deal 2x 3 courses for £20. We have left there wanting to go back and try the rest of the menu. The staff were so attentive and looked after you for the whole meal. Five stars to the front of house and the chiefs.

Booked in for New Years Eve with friends and family - freebie "Bloody Mary" at the door, excellent live entertainment - singer Aleishia would knock all the X-Factor contestants off the stage. Three course menu was very competitively priced and worth a lot more than the £24.95 paid - great atmosphere. Staff were very professional and a credit to the owners - looking forward to the next visit.
Well done - The Fishbourne.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Fishbourne Inn on the Isle of Wight. When you arrive at Fishbourne on the ferry, the Inn is immediately to the left so could not be more convenient. The Inn is a lovely country pub.... Not at all noisy, and I believe there are five rooms for guests. We were a party of 3. My daughter took the larger room with two twin beds in it and my husband and I had a small room with a double bed. Both rooms had en suite bathrooms, coffee maker, flat screen TV and the linens and furnishings were spotless. We were enchanted when we saw the rooms for the first time. US Travelers have to accept that rooms in the UK are smaller than in the US, but we were perfectly comfortable and loved returning to our room each night. The best thing is that breakfast is included and it was plentiful and delicious. Smoked haddock was my favorite for breakfast. The other good thing is that the Inn has a single rate for using a room, something you don't often get in the US. The inn also serves lunch and dinner but this is not included. We absolutely will stay here again. It was a wondful stay.

Room Tip: Go for the room with two twin beds pushed together, the room is much bigger .... Room 502

My husband and I stayed here with a friend for 3 days over Christmas, paying a high season premium of almost 70% extra We knew in advance that the restaurant would not be serving dinner on either Christmas Day or Boxing Day but did not expect that on both days the building would be completely locked down and empty from mid afternoon. Emergency contact information was not made known to us. The only access from outside was via a very poorly lit flight of steps leading to a rear fire door. On the positive side , the location is very nice and the bar was very attractively decorated for Christmas. Our bedroom, as a place to sleep, was fine except for very awkward access to the radiator control which was hidden at floor level behind the dressing table . The room was not large making it a cramped space for three people to be confined for several hours of leisure time.

The housekeeper was so overly efficient that she took not only some glassware that we had brought with us but also the jug of extra milk the kitchen had kindly supplied for those very important cups of tea when returning from a walk. The closed premises meant no cuppa and champagne from tooth mugs! Certainly a Christmas evening with a difference.

In the dining room things were also disappointing. The staff were friendly and obliging but too much ‘Polish for Hard Surfaces’ had made all the tables feel tacky. The interesting wine list deserved better that the very thick heavy duty clumsy glasses used.

On Christmas Eve, whilst we were seated in the bar, we were offered the limited dishes available on the permanent printed menu. Our order was then taken. But no mention was made of the large choice of specials listed in the dining room. As fish lovers it was very frustrating to see how many more interesting options we should have had.

Christmas lunch was very average indeed and very poor value.

Breakfasts were fine but the very strong smell of bleach from the freshly washed dining room floor was a horrible accompaniment.

I had booked the Fishbourne based on previous good reviews. It is evident that things have deteriorated and more staff training is urgently needed.

After reading the latest reviews for the fishbourne we were slightly jubious about visiting but as we were going to be getting off the ferry we thought we would risk it and hope they had just had an off day! They obviously had as we were not disappointed with anything. From the minute we opened the door and were greeted with a friendly smile and hello and as we left with a thankyou and goodbye and a wish of a merry christmas the staff were great. The food was equally pleasing, I had the slow roasted pork belly and the mustard sauce was moreish to say the least. All in all we will be back

I came here to eat with my family over the Christmas break and I could not fault the staff, food, or service. I would highly recommend the Fishbourne. I was especially impressed to learn that all the food is made on site and not bought in. I especially enjoyed the home made deserts, I'd recommend the cheese cake!
