The portions are big and the service is great, but the food is strangely lacking in taste.
Close your eyes and you'd be hard pushed to know what you were eating. The fish looked good but tasted of little, while the chips had a dryish consistency and no taste whatsoever.
If you like to smother your fish and chips in salt and vinegar or sauce, then the lack of flavour won't bother you, but if you enjoy the more natural taste of the ingredients you'll be sorely disappointed.

We stopped here after going on the Steam Railway. The main option of Cod, Chips, Peas & bread is £8.90 so not cheap. We went for the light option at around £5 which came with two fairly small pieces of cod but the fish was very fresh and the batter crispy and well seasoned. The chips were crisp and not greasy but somewhat dry in texture. The homemade tartare sauce was very good. Even my wife who doesnt normally like tartare sauce loved it.

Overall loved the fish & the tartare sauce but a little on the pricey side considering the portion size and the chips were not as good as we have had elsewhere. Hence 4 stars.

Always quick to prepare you food especially compared to some of the others fish and chip shops around where your waiting around for about half an hour for a battered sausage and chips! The staff are always very friendly. Reasonably priced, generous portions and always in good standards regarding taste

Highly recommended
